Pritchard says Blazers will exercise options for Blake, Outlaw
With weeks remaining before the NBA draft and start of free agency, the Trail Blazers already have made their first significant decision of the offseason.
General manager Kevin Pritchard told The Oregonian on Friday that the Blazers have decided to exercise team options on starting point guard Steve Blake and sixth man Travis Outlaw, two key components of last season's playoff team.

got to admire KP
that was probably a make or break decision. I like outlaw coming back because all good teams need a good backup scorer, and he serves that role pretty well. He’s only going to grow and get better. Is still good trade bait if the right deal comes along.
Blake’s signing means Sergio is gone i bet. Bayless seems on the up and up and should get an increase in PT this year, and no one can say Blake isn’t a great long term backup for the team if he stays here.
Let’s see how this plays out, still got a couple weeks til the draft.
It is only logical to sign Outlaw.
Even if we don’t keep him, picking him up for $5M is a good deal and good trade bait.

Blake, Outlaw still
Can be traded for the benefit of salary relief by the recieving team[in the event of a trade]

“What WILL the Blazers Do?
It’s hard to pin down concrete answers without seeing their priority sheet, but if I had to guess I’d say the following would happen:
1. The Blazers will exercise options on Blake and Outlaw, trimming their available cap space to $5.8 million."
Go, Dave!
They have to do it
As noted, we need Trout as trade bait if nothing else. I don’t want him to go but if we got a good deal I’d be okay with it…

good thing Dave got "advice" to KP about how to handle the players and the cap
Dave is the real KP
KP is following Dave haven’t made my mind up as to which one it is. ;)

Interesting
The Blazers have no team options on Blake and Outlaw from what I understood. Maybe storyteller or some other cap guru can correct me, but my impress was that Blake and Outlaw had unguaranteed contracts for next season, and as long as the Blazers waived them before June 30th they would not count toward the cap and become UFA’s. So all the Blazers had to do to keep them and guarantee their contracts for next season is simply not waive them before June 30th. I heard nothing about any options needing to be picked up.
I guess it is a minro thing, but still something I was interested in for future knowledge.
