One other note concerning the Blazers. As you probably know, Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Greg Oden were invited to play for the USA Basketball Select Team in Las Vegas this summer. While Oden and Aldridge will play, Roy will not. The Blazers, along with Roy, decided some rest is perhaps more in order, and that certainly seems like a good decision. We have, however, learned that Jerryd Bayless has now received an invitation, and will play on the select team against Team USA. This is huge for Jerryd, as he'll join the group of about 16 players in this prestigious event.
Bayless will once again play for the Blazers in the Las Vegas Summer League, and then will stay and play with the select team. The Blazers will be coached by assistant Joe Prunty in the summer league.

This gives BRex and GO more time together also
Nice. I guess someone besides KP thinks that Bayless will be good.

So does this hurt Roy's chance to get on the Olympic team?

If Roy keeps playing like he does (and shows he can play defense all game)...
Roy’s ability to be extremely efficient within a team framework, take cheap hits and still get the ball in the hoop, and steady jumper pretty much assure that if he wants in in the future, he’ll get in.
Any international style reason why he wouldn’t be the ultimate team oriented star for TeamUSA?

Olympics are a long way off, but this does hurt his shot at the next World Champoinships (who cares)
I believe that Kobe and, possibly, DWade want to make amends for the last World Championships and establish their group as being the “Dream Team-eque” by winning next time. Those things give them motivation to play – Brandon doesn’t really have as much reason to care about the WC’s.
They will be a few years older and Roy will have improved when the next Olympics roll around. If BRoy stays healthy, I don’t think there is any doubt he’ll be on that team.

it could
but much more likely his chances are hurt by guys named K*be, LeBron and Wade, who are all rumored to want to return.
How did you guys win that?

Jerryd already was on the last select team along with some duds, but still nice that he got invited back

I'm kind of worried about Brandon. His body seems to need a lot of rest. That is probably good for Portland,
but won’t do much for his reputation in the league. He is never going to get calls if he stays out of the lime light. He needs to win a gold medal. He should start considering playing in the next couple years in preparation for the olympics.

I doubt its a matter of not being able to do it as much as it is
just not needing to do it. He’s quickly becomming known as one of the top 10 players in the league, he doesn’t need this to bolster his reputation.
