Medina: "[Bayless] and [Oden] have some momentum going."
It turns out that Jerryd and Greg really enjoyed their workout in Ohio, so they'll be meeting up in Phoenix to continue working with Blazer strength and conditioning coach Bobby Medina.
Medina touches on getting Greg's explosiveness, summer plans, and overall psyche. The podcast should be up shortly after the show's conclusion at 3 pm PDT.

Does this mean that now that Greg has a BFF on the team
that we don’t need to trade for Conley?

We heard too much about how amazing Oden was in practice last year.
I’ll wait til I see him on the floor before I get my hopes up again.

Not really.
All they did was say that his rehab was going well, and that he’s right on schedule. The one time was Oden’s first or second practice.
The Kings have the best bench I’ve seen. There are easily 14 guys on this team good enough for every bench in the league. Now if we could only get some starters, I’d totally jizz in my pants.

Yes really.
Several reports late last summer about guys being in shock and awe over what he could do. Frye talking about Oden favoring dunking on your head, etc. I’ll wait to be impressed.

lol wut? All KP said was how much they were trying to temper Greg's expectations for the fans. He also
said it would be about half way through the season before we really saw what Greg can do, and even that was set back with injuries.
Greg had a better rookie year than Aldridge on a 54 win team which was too impatient to give him the ball or develop any rookie talent. Do you realize on any other team Greg would get like 15 shots a game, and Bayless would be starting? Yet we are a playoff team and these guys still contributed with limited opportunities.

Whoa, there.
Don’t get carried away. Bayless a starter on any other team? C’mon. We both know that isn’t true. Bayless had probably one of the lowest hurdles in the league as far as guys he had to play better than (Blake & Sergio? Not exactly all-stars), yet he saw garbage minutes almost all season, save for a two week period where he shared duties with Sergio.
Besides, I never said anything about KP. I’m talking about media reports, and comments from training staff, assistant coaches and teammates. Oden, by most measures, had an underwhelming rookie year given his draft status, hype, size, and physical stature.

I agree w/ you Arby
I remember all of the hype….I remember salivating at the reports from Center Court blog that Oden was dominating.
I didn't mean to turn you on

Rice and Barrett
Watched Greg playing in those pre-camp scrimmages and reported that Oden was impressive
(But I guess watching Greg beating up on Channing Frye and Steven Hill wasn’t a very good “indicator”)
The sprained ankle early and the bruised knee at mid-season didn’t help, but ( as I wrote at the time) I don’t think Oden was pushed hard enough to get into game shape, heading into last season. He had size, but not stamina.
(And yes, I know that “there’s no way to get into game shape other than playing in actual games and he was restricted because of his rehab” Blah blah blah…he and the trainers were getting paid to do nothing but to have him ready in time for November and they missed the target by months, not days)
Here’s hoping Greg’s “really” ready this year, on opening night. No do-overs allowed

Oden had a underwhelming rookie year for most number 1 picks?
Aldridge was a number two pick and averaged like 7 ppg and 5 rpg his rookie year. What you are really saying is that he is not scoring 25 PPG like Kevin Durant is for a horrible team.
How many rebounds did Durant have his rookie year? I don’t think he was the number 1 offensive rebounder in the league like Oden:
By the way, didn’t we get Oden to play defense, rebound and block shots? The fact that he averaged nearly 10 points per game in 20 minutes a game is actually very good. Also, he had no big man coach all year, and even then he had a former power forward teaching him. Let’s not make judgments without facts.
Yao Ming even said Oden is going to be the best defensive center in 2 years.

LaMarcus had a bum shoulder
So he missed training camp and was playing catchup all year, behind Z-Bo. LMA came on so well towards the end of his rookie year that the Blazers decided to cut Randolph loose and give the starting PF position to LMA. And he hasn’t looked back, even after heart surgery
The only relevant stats for Oden are fouls per minute. Because if Greg can move his feet, keep his hands straight up and not get himself run into by little guards he can stay in the game long enough to compile all-star quality stats. Big men develop slowly, but he’s gotta show improvement physically (stay in the crouch on defense) and mentally (fool me twice? shame on me) if the Blazers are going to take the next step

At what point do they talk about Greg Oden?

"Both Oden and Bayless are both on a mission"
good stuff and hopefully we will see the beginnings of elite play.

Getting giddy
If Bayless’ intensity rubs off on Oden, we’re so damn lucky.

Good find
like hearing about players bonding and working out together in the off season
The Blazers will play beautiful basketball.
Brandon will shoot the lights out. Blake will run and LMA will finish strong at the hoop. Bayless will play because we’ll be so far ahead in the 4th quarter, giving all the Jerryd fans something to smile about.
But wait, that’s not all. Rudy will go 5 of 5 from distance. Batum will posterize someone. And Channing will NOT lead the team in points.
