Bucher, why are you trying to depress me?

I'll say it again........
I DO NOT WANT ANDRE MILLER ON THE BLAZERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree
The style he plays, his defense, poor outside shooting and his age… he just seems like an overall bad fit.
I think he’s obviously a better player than Blake BUT if you have Bayless possibly coming on strong and Blake is fitting in as a game-manager and low-mistake player then it’s a mistake because Andre Miller is a conservative player who handles the ball a lot. There is a chance it could go wrong but if it works there isn’t that much of a reward.

If Kevin Pritchard brings in Andre Miller and Hedo Turkoglu, then he'll earn himself a F for the off-season.
The long-term implications of bringing in two aging, soon to be declining players who don’t fit stylistically will blow up in his face.

I sure hope we didn't work this hard to put ourselves in this position...
…just to get impatient and sign last ditch effort kind of players. These are moves that we would do if we were on the wrong side of our window. If we were an aging team trying for one last gasp, I might try this. We’re not. Neither of these players makes sense unless you’re trying for a one-and done next year.

Maybe they have that much trust in Bayless?
Other wise these trades don’t make much sense

Agreed. Miller isn't my first choice, but I think he is worth consideration.
Hedo? No, thanks.

wisdom of Lenin, or at least of The Big Lebowski
Quoting Walter (sort of) quoting Lenin: “It’s like Lenin said, you just look at who stands to benefit and… you know…” Maybe we shouldn’t ask who stands to benefit from getting Miller and Turkoglu (I for one am not a huge fan of getting the former, and I am totally against the latter), but who stands to benefit from these rumors. Honestly, why wouldn’t KP link the Blazers to every available free agent or player on the trading block? It is supply and demand, and the Blazers want to increase demand on ALL players they don’t actually want. The more we are linked to certain players, the less likely we will actually go after them. I am with what seems to be a majority here at BE: we don’t need or want Turkoglu. But it would be stupid of us not to pretend we want him. I mean who stands to benefit from the Blazers front office actually telegraphing what they want … you know …
But where does the pretending stop. I mean, shouldn’t we all join in just in case someone is monitoring our posts. Shouldn’t we flood the site with fanposts about why Amar’e for Roy/LMA is steal.
Or perhaps once I have posted this, giving away our strategy, the rest of the league will see this coming … so we should just ask for what we want and then they will think we are pretending.
But now they will see that coming.
The whole thing threatens to devolve into a reflexive whirlpool of unanswered questions and comedic misdirections—much like the plot of The Big Lebowski itself. A lotta ins, a lotta outs. Its a complicated case.
Best just to rest assured that KP, like “the Dude,” abides. Say what you will about “in KP we trust,” but at least its an ethos.

Exactly!
Since when did the Beatles care about the Blazers?
:^)
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.

All the GMS might not listen to the media as much as we would like to believe they do
BUt they do listen to other GM’s and my money tells me to trust KP in anything he does.

Fortunately the national guys are usually wrong about the KP's targets
I don’t remember if it was Ric, but someone at ESPN had the Blazers moving up to draft Blair.

If we get Hedo and Andre, I will go crazy. Two declining, overpaid players taht don’t fit in the system.
by Cablinasian on Jun 29, 2009 8:59 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Like him or not Miller would be a good fit
Andre can run a team, push the ball when its there, and dosent need the ball in his hands at the end of the game.

I like Hedo........for the MLE.
But at 8 figures a year? No way. Too much for a guy who would basically fill the same role James Jones used to.
Miller is alright, but I worry about his defense sometimes too. If he can move the ball and be strong enough to keep other team’s 1’s from dominating, along with not needing the ball every possession, then it could work. That’s an awful lot of if’s though.

Hedo isn't a great as the hype around him, but don't be silly and compare him to Jones
Hedo is one of the biggest mismatches in the league. He would help us big time in the postseason.
I dont know if he’s worth the money he’s asking for, but come playoff time he takes our team to another level with his offensive ability
by Rudy4three on Jun 29, 2009 6:57 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
I was simply pointing out his main task with this team.
He would be mainly a 3 point threat. He’s not a defensive stopper, though he’s not a liability really. He’s not a guy that drives to the hoop with regularity. He can’t take guys off the dribble. He’s an outstanding jump shooter. It’s great to have one of those on any team. But not for 10 mil a year.
Yes! Yes! In the face!

This is just leverage so Chicago lowers its price on Hinrich
by Sonic Boom on Jun 29, 2009 10:03 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
I could live with us making a deal with Miller only if the price is reasonable and...
We have made every effort to make a deal work for Harris, Hinrich, or Sessions and have struck out.
by 52therim on Jun 29, 2009 11:08 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
I think this would be great
Seems like everyone wants that “big deal”, but they are scoffing at deals like this which are among the only realistic ones that would have a major impact on the team. Please tell me what’s out there that’s better than this. We give up Blake and our cap space and get two All Star caliber veterans at positions of need. I’d be very happy if this ended up being our off-season move.
Granted, without Blake we would need to make another move to bring in a starting point guard. Maybe Heinrich could be aquired using Outlaw/Webster etc.

I'd rather have Hinrich and Gerald Wallace.
Koponen - PG of the future. For Italy, that is. Book it.

Yes to Hinrich.

Ideally that would be a sick combo.
It would be nice if Wallace could effectively do backup 4 duties as well.

Not a starting point guard
But we might want to shore up the position with a third option, so that there’s not too much pressure on Bayless.

Andre is worth it but hedo is a hell no
Miller can be had for less and provides a coach for bayless. I see him as an upgrade over blake, but a little on the old side. But again it would only be for a couple years.
by NDREXLERDRIVE on Jun 29, 2009 11:58 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Somebody convince me that for the same money Miller is a better choice than Sessions
I’ll concede that our title window might open a year earlier…MIGHT!!! Are we making decisions based on next year? or on the next 4 years?
Make an offer on Sessions (If the Harris and Hinrich options flame out)! If the Bucks match whatever deal KP feels is a fair shake, then go get Miller.
