Poll: Favorite New Blazer?
So in my humble opinion, I feel the Blazers did OK last night. It's been said several times over that this draft was a little weak and truth be told, do we really want the next major piece of the puzzle to be an 18-22 year old kid? We drafted for the future and stayed away from making any big money commitments, which in my eyes is OK.
Sure, it was boring. And yes, it was pretty uneventful. But still, there has got to be at least one of these new dudes that you kind of like and will be rooting for next year. For me it's Patty Mills, the most accomplished Indigenous Aussie in the sport of basketball ever. Watching him the past few seasons--especially when he torched a certain PAC 10 school--has been entertaining and I'd love to see him add depth as a legit third or maybe even second option at the 1.
But that's me. How about you?

Pendergraph
I like Mills a lot. I think he’s got an ice cube’s chance to make the ballclub though.
I like Claver too and who knows what will happen with trades and stuff, as far as he is concerned. I always wanted a VC on our team and now we have one. – Elgin

I know what you mean. I’m rooting for Mills but yeah, I don’t really count on him being here long. I guess I’m happiest because I didn’t really feel like I had to depend on this draft going well for the team to improve for the first time in a long time. I don’t know that it was perfect but it went well enough that with some more roster tweaking by KP we’ll improve.
Pendergraph should be interesting right away and I think Claver is a nice investment for the future. Plus, I’m starting to love the Spanish more and more, so losing Sergio meant I personally needed another Spaniard. Maybe he pans out and KP is again a genius or maybe he’s a dud and we never see him. Very low risk as far as I’m concerned.

Where is the option I was looking for?
Sergio’s open roster spot (likely to be filled by Steven Hill)
Tony Bennett reports that Minnesota and Portland are swapping draft picks -- Roy to Portland, Foye to Minnesota. That's it? That's the trade? None of the ESPN guys seem remotely fazed. I knew Kevin McHale couldn't just pick the best guy in the draft without somehow screwing it up. I would have bet my Ndudi Ebi rookie cards on it.

Pendergraph. The guy had the highest FG% in the NCAA last year, which means he doesn't jack up long 2's with a hand in his face. Also, I think he shot 77% from the line last year.

Saw him in Corvallis and even though the Beavs didn’t have a true big man to challenge him he still looked very good. He runs well in the open court, is athletic and was aggressive around the hoop. Hope he can continue to improve and bring the same kind of game to the NBA.

Cunningham.
Because he raises so much ire. For some reason, that makes me smile. :)

After all the discussion.
We still drafted a Spanish baller with our first pick in the draft.

Gotta vote for a Blazer named Patty.
Now we need an Alex, a Drew, a Morgan, and a Tyler and we can field a whole androgynously-name team.

Mills
Have to say Mills.
Realistically he will struggle to make the team after the summer league which is a shame. I live in Australia in the same place MIlls is from and know a few people that know him and I have seen the news reports today in Oz about him getting drafted and I can understand that there is some excitement, but reality will set in.
This stage I am sure Mills would prefer to be back at St Mary’s, have heard though that a team in the first round said they would take him and then decided not to, that is the nature of the NBA and the draft, anything can happen.

Yeah, you feel a bit bad for the early entry candidates who don’t get guaranteed contracts. He should catch on somewhere, here or abroad. I wish him the best of luck.

Gonna have to go with the drink.
So far the off season has been sub par at best for Portland. But there still is much time. Changes have to be for us to advance and I’m sure KP/Allen/Mac are as aware as I.
So for now, drink up!
Cheers!

I voted Pendergraph but the more I learn about Cunningham the more I like him. I’d switch my vote if I could.
