With the 17th pick in the 1987 NBA Draft, the Portland Trail Blazers selected Ronnie Murphy -- who ended up being a total bust -- as a result, the crowd in New York was electrified, since St. John's legend Mark Jackson fell into the Knicks lap.

To make y'all feel better, though, at least that move wasn't as stupid as Bob Whitsitt's decision on that ...
same day to trade the draft rights of Scottie Pippen and a 1989 first-round draft pick (i.e., Jeff Sanders) to the Chicago Bulls for the draft rights of Olden Polynice, a 1988 second-round draft pick (i.e., Sylvester Gray), and a 1989 first-round draft pick (i.e., B.J. Armstrong).

Yeah, the Bulls got its own 1989 first-round draft pick back by trading Brad Sellers — who was Johan Petro before Johan Petro — to the Seattle SuperSonics for the blasted selection. Oh well, at least Whitsitt nabbed Shawn Kemp with the 19th pick that year.
Okay, that’s enough of me rambling on an on about ancient SuperSonics lore.
Who was the GM of Seattle in 1987?
The glorious Olden Polynice for Scottie Pippen trade?
That Steve Nash is exactly the same as Kirk Hinrich, but worse.

I'm always stunned by this draft
How did the RoY fall to 18???
"He is one of the most exciting explosive players to come out of this program"
Awesome. Since it’s such a renowned program.
“Plays a little bit out of control at times and his shot selection is not the best”
