Draft Day: The Non-Blazer Thread

Welcome to Draft Day 2009!

We'll have an open thread with live updates on the proceedings when the draft starts this afternoon.  If you can't get to a TV then Blazersedge will be your pick-by-pick hook-up.  But there are a few hours between now and then.  This is one of the threads to get you by.

This thread is for discussion of all of the teams BESIDES Portland.  You can talk about draft-day deals  (there's now a separate thread for this), trade rumors, what you think other teams should/will/can do.  This thread is not for Blazer matters and especially not for trade suggestions involving other teams and the Blazers!

Enjoy the morning and the ramp-up to the draft.

I think the biggest non-Blazer news for draft day is how far Rubio slides

Sounds like a good chance he goes down to 5. Could he fall farther?

it looks like Jennings

stock has been dropping alot, with a chance of falling out of lottery territory…..

they say he might not go in the green room because he doesnt want to be the last one there

The Blazers will play beautiful basketball.

Brandon will shoot the lights out. Blake will run and LMA will finish strong at the hoop. Bayless will play because we’ll be so far ahead in the 4th quarter, giving all the Jerryd fans something to smile about.

But wait, that’s not all. Rudy will go 5 of 5 from distance. Batum will posterize someone. And Channing will NOT lead the team in points.

Jennings and Hansbrough

Could pay a lively game of rock, paper, scissors

The problem with Rubio is,

That he seems like he wants to go where he wants to go and owners and GM’s are probably turned off by an 18 year old making those type of decisions and it’s been wondered all along if he can really be an asset or a headache. Remember, he’s been a professional for a couple years now and still doesn’t shoot that well or defend that well.

can anyone really blame him for not wanting to go to memphis or "okc"?

He defends pretty well.

It’s considered one of his strengths.

Any word on whether the Clips are going to be merciful

and just put Griffin out of his misery now instead of forcing him to play for their team?

I'm interested in how the pgs are drafted and who goes where

a lot of decent ones in this draft, many teams could look back and say “we shoulda picked him”

Where does Amare end up

Thats my biggest offseason question? He has mad skills but it sounds like even a worse attitude. Are the raiders viable…oooops sorry.

I try to help with everything," Fernandez said. "If the coach says go rebound, I go rebound. I work for the team.

You get squeezing down to the exact things. Now it's not about fluff. It's down to deal points."

Talks of Amare to the Rockets for McGrady.

Don’t know how reliable it is. Probably not at all. But it’s something.

Does anyone think that the Celtics are shopping Rondo?

And if they do ship Rondo, do you think they’ll move up in the draft to get a Rubio or a Curry?

If the rumors are true that Ainge wants to get rid of Rondo then I have to think that Rondo is some sort of cancer in that locker room. You win a title with him, he does an awesome job for you in the playoffs and now you want him out of there? Something doesn’t add up and I wonder if there is an underlying issue with him.

Speaking of "too cold"

This’ll be the first time Shaq has played for an NBA team where it does snow regularly. So far: Orlando, LA, Miami, Phoenix, and now … Cleveland? Hope he enjoys shoveling his driveway!

On ESPN

Gottlieb predicted that Jennings would fall to the 22rd pick and the Kings.

What are some comparable draft-week free-falls?
