Are we getting Kirk???

He seems to think so.

From Woj at Yahoo Sports (here), Kirk is telling friends that he thinks he will be traded to the Blazers to be paired with B-Roy in the backcourt.

I for one would be STOKED to see us get Kirk.  Offensively he is a slight upgrade to Blake, but defensively he is a HUGH upgrade to Blake.  And really in the playoffs it was defense that killed us not the offense.

GO KP get it done!!!

I didn't watch a whole lot of Chicago

How much does Hinrich need the ball in his hands to be productive? Portland is kind of odd because the two guard initiates so much. I don’t think every point guard could fit with the Blazers.

He can play off the ball and be a spot up shooter just like Blake.

He would fit with Roy as good as Blake. Only it will be better because well, he’s better than Blake

Better perimeter D = less Oden fouls.

This would be an awesome move.

Koponen - PG of the future. For Italy, that is. Book it.

Hinrich is a great defender

Hinrich’s defensive #s are really good. Check out http://www.82games.com/0809/08CHI3.HTM

47.7% effective FG allowed to 50.3% for Blake.

(For comparison, Bruce Bowen’s effective FG allowed is 48%)

Hinrich would be a huge boost to our lackluster (and potentially scarily bad if Fernandez is moved to a starting 3) perimeter defense. and as stated before, he’ll take pressure off Oden too.

KP Connection

Don’t forget where Hinrich went to school. It would be a mistake to not mention that he is also a Kansas PG.

On the news this morning,

they were talking about the NBA draft while showing clips of nothing but Hinrich. No prospective draft targets, just Hinrich. Apparently, someone in the sports department is a fan of this possibility….

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
