TRAIL BLAZERS RENEW BROADCAST PARTNERSHIP WITH KGW THROUGH 2012-13 SEASON
17-year partnership continues with all KGW games in HD in 2010
PORTLAND, OR - KGW NewsChannel 8 and the Portland Trail Blazers announced today that they have renewed their broadcast agreement for the next four seasons.
KGW NewsChannel 8, the flagship television station of the Trail Blazers since the 1992-1993 season, will broadcast up to 20 regular season games in high definition on free over-the-air television through the 2012-13 season. The actual number of games aired each season is dependent on the NBA's national broadcast schedule.
"We are pleased to continue a great over-the-air partnership by extending our relationship with KGW," Trail Blazers President Larry Miller said. "Unlike fans in a lot of NBA cities, Trail Blazers fans in Portland are fortunate to have the city's leading over-the-air affiliate make the commitment to carrying up to 20 games every season in addition to the comprehensive coverage of the team they provide each night."
The "Rip City Uprise" that played to passionate sellout crowds at the Rose Garden also extended to the broadcast audience, where KGW's ratings were up 37 percent over 2007-08. Six playoff games on KGW averaged a 17.1 local rating.
"We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the Portland Trail Blazers to make the games of this young rising team available to everyone in Portland," said D.J. Wilson, KGW president and general manager. "We share the same passion and vision for our community and the same commitment to excellence. Having felt like the sixth man on the team with our incredible partnership over many years, we stand ready to cheer them on to victory and are very pleased to be awarded the over the air television rights for the next four seasons."

Shame
That there are still more on comcast sports net. I have direct TV, so I miss out on a ton of games. I hope KGW can get as many as possible.
Or, you know, the national media pick up blazer fever and we get ESPN and TNT broadcasts more often.
"We Believe" - Rudy Fernandez
TNT means we're the second of a double header
so we miss the first half of the game cause they seem to think Basketball games are alot shorter than they are

and if you go to see them live, they don't start until practically 8pm
It makes for a late night during a week day, for me anyways.
And if they're on a nationally televised channel that means
I can’t see the games on League Pass Broadband.
"Aneurysm".
When Outlaw wins a game on a last-second shot, it’s called an "annthefaneurysm". QualityPie
Their HD coverage
was a joke last season… same with CSN. Try to keep up with the rest of the sportsworld.
CSN's production quality is the worst
They are smart enough to snag the programming that people want to watch, but anybody else can do it better.
I used to think Fox Sports NW was bad, but CSN lowered the bar a couple rungs.
comcast seriously?
still nothing?
"shaq and zach randolph have the same trainer... "
best one liner i ever heard.
Man...they need to dump Comcast...
in a D’Antoni New York minute… They don’t have universal coverage in Portland…and are refusing to sell service to DishNet and DirecTV at a reasonable price. As usual, the fans lose…
Are you a Mexi-CAN or a Mexi-CAN'T?
Can you be the flagship station when you just broadcast 1/4th of the season?
Also, what have they done to address the issue of the Blazers losing disproportionately often when they play on KGW?
One way to address that.....
(the propensity to lose on KGW broadcasts), is to let KGW have more home games.
Of course the preferred alternative is to have the Blazers win more road games.

Advice??
right now I’ve got direct tv but honestly i got it 110% for the NFL Season Pass… while I still want that, I’m strongly considering ditching it in favor of Comcast so I can get more Blazer games.
thoughts?
REALLY wish there was a way I could get both NFL Season Pass AND comcast sports network. :(
I appreciated it when KGW put the home games online to stream.
I hope they do it again, especially since there will likely be even more excitement.
COMCAST!
Why cant some local station take over the Blazer games? Is it because it will cost them money and they already have good ratings with stupid sitcoms, comedies, etc?
Have Direct TV…. its a shame that us die hard fans are punished because of Comcast.
Any explanations on why this is???
Greg Oden = Robert Parish - The only other rookie with more than 500 points, 400 rebounds, and 65 blocks in under 1400 minutes played. Since 1946

because comcast sucks
i just lost all my upper channels because they are basically forcing everyone to buy a cable box, no more free channels 33-70 for me. They probably realized lots of people weren’t paying for the whole package by easily taking off the filter

Surely they could get better ratings for Blazer games than other crap in Portland.
They should put all games on broadcast. Don’t make me buy cable fools.
I understand you guys hate comcast but...
Its the only way i get to watch the team up here in seattle…. I love that they are on comcast and beside satilite tv sucks just get comcast because its pretty good.
Heading towards Year # 3 . . .
