New Trade - Warriors and Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks and Golden State Warriors are closing in on a trade that would find a new home for Jamal Crawford.
NBA front-office sources say that the Warriors and Hawks will soon complete a deal sending Crawford to Atlanta for Acie Law and Speedy Claxton.
Warriors coach Don Nelson made no secret of the fact that Crawford wasn't in his future plans. By shedding Crawford's longer contract and by virtue of insurance payments that will cover some of the costs of Claxton, Golden State would secure a decent measure of payroll relief with the trade.
Less clear is what impact the move will have on Atlanta's forthcoming negotiations with free agent-to-be Mike Bibby. Although Crawford is not a pure point guard, he's a prolific scorer whose arrival could affect the sort of contract offer Bibby expected to command from the Hawks.

And our PG possibilities narrow slighlty...

Hmm, I thought the opposite
Bibby is now LESS likely to go back to Atlanta, and I don’t believe we ever had any interest in Crawford whatsoever.
As much as I like Kidd as a mentor for Bayless, Bibby is probably much closer to the type of PG Bayless will grow into.

Crawford ain't coming close to taking Bibby's spot/minutes
I don’t think he is any more likely to go somewhere else. I think the writer’s last sentence is NONSENSE

but Bibby is as
much as a shooter as Blake with decent but not ethereal PG skills. I dont see him as that much of an upgrade from Blake.

The Warriors new crap also expires sooner
So in a way it’s worse but cheaper crap. While Atlanta gets the crap that scores more.
By the way, Warriors fans are fantasizing this is some move to position them for more moves and land Chris Bosh or someone like that next year. Don’t ask me how.

only most extreme of them -in real world -it’s a good way to get rid of JC + get two trade chips (for Claxton W’s got pay just 20% salary)

This is a home-run for Golden State...
They wanted to get rid of Crawford in a bad way… I was sort of keen on getting him as a backup PG, but with his price tag and lack of defense, probably not a good fit for us.

no way
Law has proved nothing so far and so has Claxton. Sure they get out of some salary, but lose on talent. Atl gets a lot of scoring for nothing in return.

They could play him back up minutes at both guard spots.
That could work.

The Golden State Warriors dump Jamal Crawford for salary relief and the Atlanta Hawks get a backup ...
combo guard to replace Ronald “Flip” Murray, who’s likely to depart via free agency. Crawford, by the way, has likely nothing do to with whether or not Mike Bibby re-signs with Atlanta.
