Exception Question
So I have a question about the trade exception. I know that we can't package it up with a trade, but could the following work:
Team 2 has a player (Player A) with a $11mil salary. We want said player. Team 2 also wants to receive expiring contracts.
Trade the exception to Team 2 for Player B, whose salary is about $3mil.
Then, trade Player B, Travis and Blake to Team 2 for Player A. We take on 11mil, they give up 11mil plus now they have the exception. Essentially, these deals would become Travis, Blake and Trade Exception for $11 player.
Can teams do this?

We can't package our exception with a player
I think
Offseason:
PG Options: Mike Conley Jr(T)/Jrue Holiday(D)/Rodrigue Beaubois(D)
SG Options: Mickaël Piétrus(T)/Terrence Williams(D)/Paul Harris(D)
Forward Options: Serge Ibaka(T)/Taj Gibson(D)/Ater Majok(D)
C Options: Alexis Ajinca(T)/Bamba Fall(D)

This works, except we don’t “trade” the exception, it gets consumed (they don’t get it in exchange). A new exception may or may not get created, but it’s not the same one.
Then, trade Player B, Travis and Blake to Team 2 for Player A. We take on 11mil, they give up 11mil plus now they have the exception. Essentially, these deals would become Travis, Blake and Trade Exception for $11 player.
This isn’t doable. We could’t turn around and trade the same player back to them that we just acquired from them. What might be possible is to acquire the $3 million dollar player from a third team, using our exception. Waiting the required 60 or 90 days (can’t rembmer which it is), and then packaging that new player along with Outlaw and Blake for the $11 million dollar player.
How did you guys win that?
"We scored enough points. We scored 107, they scored 105.

I think douglast is right
To quote Larry Coon’s FAQ #85

A team cannot reacquire a player they traded away during that season (a season being July 1 – June 30) unless the player has been waived.
My only question would be this – can you do trade #1 in June and trade #2 in August? My guess is that this would be considered circumvention of the cap and the trade would not be approved by the league.

When was the Trade deadline reopen?
It was my understanding that the Trade deadline that occurred in February was in effect until the end of the season (June 30), but obviously this is not the case as San Antonio and Milwaukee have already made a trade and there are many trades during the draft. Does trading reopen after the last Finals game

Nevermind, answered my own question.
It’s after the last game of the season for that particular team.
