Wait what is wrong with Hinrich's character?

Excuse me, do these effectively hide my thunder?

First I’ve heard of this. I don’t recall ever hearing anything about Kirk being a bad guy.

I’ve heard the same thing from a Portland media member, at the trading deadline. I don’t feel comfortable speculating about all that was said, but it’s not something that I view as a deal-breaker. I would understand if we didn’t go get him, though.

I've never heard anything big, and I've been following him since college.

Pretty much every criticism I can remember hearing has been on the talent side – besides the people who just don’t like his game, he can get down on himself when things are going badly on court (hence the “mopey Iowan” nickname at Blogabull), and he sometimes does stupid things on court when he’s frustrated (throwing his mouthpiece into the stands in the playoffs against Miami a couple of years ago, picking up a frustration foul) – but he can also get into a pretty good groove when he’s mad. Toward the end of the season, we were looking for the other team/refs to piss him off because it definitely seemed to lead to a an increase in production.

Rumor had it that he and Chris Duhon used to party it up a bit. And I’ve known a few people who thought he was conceited/a jerk when they met him in person. Anyway, if he’s got character issues it’s something he can keep pretty quiet, or else he’s really working the Chicago media.

Sounds like KH brings passion

and the Blazers could use more passion

Well, the discussion re: what this could be is going on over at the Bulls board on RealGM

Mostly I-know-a-guy-who-knows kind of stuff, but here’s the link if anyone wants to take a look.

ScottMay (not that Scott May) said
if I were doing a thorough vetting of Hinrich in preparation for my team’s potentially acquiring him, I would be a little wary about his relationship with the NBA’s officiating corps.

He’s always been a complainer/whiner — and probably justifiably so when it comes to some of the ticky-tack hand-check fouls he’s always getting zapped with. But there have been times where he flat-out lets it take him out of his game, and in a way where he gets all downtrodden and negative about it. It’s a flaw and I can see it as being a valid concern for certain teams that might have fragile chemistry/effort issues.

So Kirk’s the Danny Ainge of his generation? You say that like it’s a bad thing

one former player saying that he [HInrich] “smokes more weed than any person I’ve ever seen.”

Never seemed to bother Robert “Inhale to the Chief” Parrish

(Kirk would fit right in, in this state)

gambling addiction?
i know a guy who has gambled with kirk. he says kirk is a big time gambler. i myself saw kirk and pete myers gambling at a casino in milwaukee. he wasn’t at the cheap tables!

I know of a few local casinos that could use the business

Which player pulled out the weed-wacker?
Tyson Chandler, JamesOn Curry, Tyrus Thomas, and Nocioni. One of those players said it, although I’m not saying which one.

My money’s on Chandler, or maybe Andres Nocioni

this was pretty funny
From what I hear around the city, he does smoke weed and womanize, but he’s in the NBA— I think those two things are actually written into their contracts

I liked this disclaimer
it could jut be a person from the [Blazer] organization leaking it [concerns re: Kirk’s character] out because they oppose the trade to misinform the Portland public. Or, it could be misinformation because it’s a deal that is close to happening, but they want a fall-back reason to tell the fans if it doesn’t work out.

Outlaw
but one Eastern Conference team – one in the top ten in this year’s draft actually – is heavily interested in Outlaw according to one source. The team is said to love that Travis can get out and go on offense.

Well, the only Eastern teams with top 10 picks are the Knicks at 8, Raptors at 9, and Bucks at 10. So which one seems to fit this line of thinking?

How did you guys win that?
"We scored enough points. We scored 107, they scored 105.

Milwaukee doesn’t… Travis is the antithesis of a Skiles player.

Toronto desperately needs wings. Travis fits the Colangelo mold of player pretty well.

New York kind of makes sense because Travis is a talented and an expiring contract.

I put it at 50/50 between Toronto and New York.

makes sense

NY seemed an obvious choice, because of the tempo they enjoy, and his ending contract status. I wasn’t sure about Toronto, but your point about them needing wings seems to fit. Let’s look at some trades.

If we are talking pre-July (draft day) deals, then there is nothing that works to NY straight up for Travis. We could go Travis and Sergio for Chris Duhon, and throw in whatever picks (8 and 24?)

Banks is about the only guy that works from Toronto.

How did you guys win that?

might have to be a 3-way that's approved after July 1st

If that’s the case, Tor or NY’s GM may be picking for KP

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
