trade with new jersey ?
If the blazers are to get a top of the line PG they will have to pay for it.
Heres a trade that could work for all teams. first part of the trade is trade bayless, outlaw, the 24th pick and a pick in round 2 for D. milicic the number 2 over all pick and the 27th pick.
part two of the the deal. the blazers trade the number 2 pick sergio and maybe the 27th pick for devin harris.

Memphis would have to be crazy to take a deal like that. They move 3 picks up for their 2nd pick, and trade away their first for Outlaw, Bayless and a 2nd rounder? It’d never happen. I doubt any team could move from 24th to 2nd without giving up a major contributor on their team. Teams have the expectations that a 2nd overall pick at least could become the player for their franchise. No one is going to give that up for 2 reserves, moving from 27th up to 24th in the draft, and a 2nd round pick.

well Outlaw was a major contributor
on the Blazers last year. But i agree I don’t think Bayless/Outlaw + picks gets the Blazers the #2 pick, however Memphis is reportedly taking offers on the pick and Outlaw is from Memphis and could do well there. Their needs are at the power forward spot, with Conley, Majo, Gay, and Gasol rounding out their starting 5. Outlaw could be that 4 as that seems to be his spot more than the 3. Not sure how much more it would take to get that #2 from Memphis, but…
If the Blazers were able to pull of a trade for the #2 pick, I can’t see KP doing anything more than picking Rubio.

Since the Blazers aren’t going to trade Aldridge, we’d have to send a combination of players their way. They may take Outlaw to potential play some PF in small sets, but what they really need is a strong inside presence and they’re not going to get that with Outlaw or anything else we have to offer. They’re probably hoping to trade down marginally, pick up something for the #2 and still be in position to pick up Hill or Blair whichever strikes their fancy. To trade down to #24, they’d almost have to get a quality PF in the trade to make it worthwhile because the best they can hope for at 24 is a decent reserve unless they luck out and hit a HR. We just don’t have the pieces available to make an offer to Memphis that’s really worth them giving up the #2 for.

Blazers don't want Rubio.
Think about our offense. Slowest in the league. Just a bad fit. Creative point guards and Nate McMillen don’t get along.

I don't think Rubio wants to come here either.
He wants to go to a team where he can run the point immediately. He probably wouldn’t start or get all minutes he wants here.

I'd like to deal with New Jersey
As I think that we can solve our PG and our backup PF situations easily with them (Harris, and perhaps Jianlian? Boone? Anderson).
However, Memphis would never take that trade, they have no incentive to help us, and this doesn’t really help them that much. They don’t need a PG like Bayless

Gah forgot the second part
I’m working on a 3 team trade that would send Landry + Harris to the Blazers, Vince Carter to Houston, and Tracy McGrady to the Nets. (Not the actual deal, working on the rest of it.)
I think that Houston would do this trade to acquire a more reliable(Injury-wise) scorer, and they would get rid of his 20 million dollar contract. New Jersey would want Tracy because his contract would expire for the 2010 offseason, when they would like to acquire Lebron, or any other of the stars that would be available. Portland would do this because it fills all remaining holes that they have, and make them at least the 2nd best team in the West(Maybe on par with the Spurs for 2nd.)

Use Milwaukee & Sacramento, then return to NJ
Trade one:
To Milwaukee: Outlaw, Rodriguez, #24
To Portland: Kurt Thomas, Malik Allen, #10
Trade two:
To Sacramento: #10, Bayless
To Portland: Rubio selected with pick #4
Wait until the new fiscal year. (Two weeks away?)
Trade Three (two parts):
To NJ: Rubio, Blake
To Portland: Harris
To NJ: Ruffin trade exception
To Portland: Najera
Milwaukee gets small cap relief to help resign Sessions and a decent backup for him. Outlaw is a cheap replacement for Jefferson.
Sacramento is not sold on anyone at the top of the draft. They were (reported to be) crazy about Bayless last year. They get Bayless and still get a top 10 pick.
NJ gets Rubio. Rubio can be marketed in NY and will be a fantastic guard to lead NJ when they open the new arena in Brooklyn. Blake can help him until he’s ready.
Portland gets Harris and some tough guys that may or may not help next year.
Oden/Pryzbilla/Thomas
LMA/Najera/Allen
Batum/Webster
Roy/Fernandez
Harris/ ???

I like what you are trying to get back, but I can't stand Najera.

Where do we exactly pay?
We are giving up our sixth man, our back up point guard, a rookie who barely played and two of our picks for an all star up and coming point guard.
