Tuesday Pre-Draft Workout Participants
Here's the list from the Blazers...
WHAT
Schedule of Portland Trail Blazers pre-draft workouts for Tuesday, June 23
WHO
Nando De Colo, Guard (France); Paul Delaney, Guard (Alabama-Birmingham); Tywon Lawson, Guard (North Carolina); Taylor Griffin, Forward (Oklahoma); Goran Suton, Forward (Michigan State)
As always this list is subject to change. Notice that it's five names long instead of six so it sounds like Taj Gibson was a late scratch.
- Nando De Colo is seen as a second round pick. Point Guard/Shooting Guard. 6'5" and 187.
- Paul Delaney is not expected to be drafted. Point Guard. 6'2" and 200.
- Tywon Lawson is expected to be the Blazers first round draft choice a late-lottery or mid-first round pick. 6'0" and 195. Here's Dave's look.
- Taylor Griffin is not only not his brother, he doesn't have a Draft Express profile. Power Forward. 6'7" and 238. He's not expected to be drafted.
- Goran Suton was Detroit's pick in my Mock Territorial Draft but is not expected to be drafted. Power Forward. 6'10 and 245.
Clearly the two names that matter here are De Colo and Lawson. At first glance I think it's reasonable to expect both to crack the top 5 on my Draft Prospect Board.
Lawson's presence in Portland this late in the draft process could be a (smoke) signal that the Blazers are looking to trade up.

Poor De Colo
that won’t be pretty. Or… rather… it will. Lawson is going to drink Nando’s milkshake.

I’d like to draft-n-stash de Colo, though.

He won't be a bad value later on. I'm more of the Claver persuasion myself
I’m pretty sure this’ll be our last year of Trout, if he’s even still on the team then. And believe it or not, having a power forward that can shoot the three can be quite the luxury everything considered (especially if you have Przybilla or Oden at center, or Aldridge if you’re playing fast – look at Orlando). Claver I think can fill that role well, as he’s got really good length for a big, and an excellent touch from three.

I'd like lawson
as a 3rd PG.
Even a Blake Bayless Lawson corps is a pretty good PG rotation. Imagine if we add Hinrich, Miller, Kidd etc.

Suton
He might be an alright backup PF for Portland. He’s a pretty big dude who can shoot from the outside. Maybe he’s worth one of Portland’s later second round picks.

Do the Blazers pay for these guys to come in?
KP and others have said they already did their homework so why pay for a guy to come work out to confirm you won’t draft him?

Open your eyes
Stop dreaming, Lawson is just a school player, what is his career…… Nando is a PRO, 3 years pro in his league, MVP, eurocup final, play for national team in place of a Mike Pietrus, he is a confirmed player, Lawson may be a player… one day…..or never
