Jon Brockman - 2nd Round

"It's still not perfectly clear which team gave him the guarantee, but I've narrowed it down to two teams: the Detroit Pistons and the Portland Trail Blazers. Both teams have multiple picks early in the second round and both teams could use a power forward. The Pistons need a lot of frontcourt help, and the Blazers need a backup power forward."

"Whichever team it is, the Pistons or the Blazers, Brockman should be off the board by No. 44 at the latest. Portland owns the No. 33 pick and the No. 38 pick, while Detroit will draft at No. 35, No. 39 and No. 44."

Who thinks portland will trade the 33rd for the 35th and 44th

Then flip the 38th for two 2nd rounders next year.

Brockman looked pretty sharp in the tournament

Maybe “sharp” isnt the right word…how about “beastly”

I agree

He’s an incredible rebounder and a very tough player. I think it’d be well worth one of our 2nd round picks to give him a try. Only downside is that he hasn’t worked out for us, afaik, but management have said that workouts are just icing on the cake of decision-making.

"Yeah, but Portland definitely is not one of them."

"They don't mind him shooting that shot at all. Rudy Fernandez is not that great of a 3pt shooter."

-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters right after a Rudy Fernandez missed 3pter. Rudy Fernandez finished the game with three 3pters on six attempts.

sounds like a Spurs move

Give a promise to a prospect and keep him from working out with other teams. I see shades of Batum from last year.

He's not going to be a first round pick so why not?

Especially if the place is a place he’d like to be. He knows Roy and Martell very well already, closest NBA team to his home is the Blazers so if they’re the team who said they’re going to draft him, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was completely happy with that.

does he not know the track record for blazers second round picks?

they always end up being traded for something else and never amount to anything.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
