Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

I found this on "Blog A Bull". It is VERY nicely put together with spread sheets of current NBA starters measurements, and Pre-Draft measurements. The author even made a nice summary of the first round guys.

Here's a rumor from O-Live too.

Blazers Eyeing Stephen Curry. http://blog.oregonlive.com/blazers/2009/06/nba-draft-rumors-stephen-curry-to-the-blazers.html

My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.

Noooooooooooooo!

This has got to be smoke and mirrors, right? Why would we want another 6’3" tweener with short arms? Bayless is going to be real good, and he’s ours.

This must be a smokescreen I’m sure. He is eying someone else.

by dario argento on Jun 2, 2009 1:50 PM PDT up reply actions

I was thinking the same thing.

To me, Curry would seem like a down grade from Bayless. However, I don’t know too much about him.

At Davidson Curry was basically a mini Iverson. Bulk shooter / chucker / scorer.

He definitely has skills, but a lot of scouts aren’t sure his game is going translate at all to the NBA. He is not a NBA caliber athlete ( yet perhaps ), and is pretty skinny, so he will probably get thrown around quite a lot. He is an interesting player, one that I’ll be keeping an eye on, but hopefully for another team.

Givony from DX said on Wheels at Work today that he doesn’t see Portland going after Curry.

Hope so.

I’m with dario. I think it’s a smokescreen.

Johnny Flinn can fly!

40" vert!

by OCBlazerFan1 on Jun 2, 2009 1:56 PM PDT up reply actions

  • Beaubois with a 39 inch vert, nice. But only 3 reps on the bench press.
  • Mullens only 10 bench press, not a lot for a center/power forward
  • Blair is a strong dude with 18 reps, 33 max vert is nothing to write home about but not bad either (not many high leapers in this one)
  • Darren Collison is super quick
  • Lawson should have helped himself with these results

by Norsktroll on Jun 2, 2009 1:57 PM PDT up reply actions

And once again Jordan Hill is not good

11 reps, worst lane agility. I seriously don’t get how teams like him in the top 5, reportedly Dallas even wants to trade up for him.

by Norsktroll on Jun 2, 2009 2:01 PM PDT up reply actions

its amazing

there is absolutely nothing on his resume that says “top 5 pick.”

by jksnake99 on Jun 2, 2009 2:02 PM PDT up reply actions

Really, he is over half a second slower than a 50 pounds heavier DeJuan Blair who kills him in every statistical category in college. Did he stumble and fall? No objection to Hill going in the lottery, but why so so high.

ahem, draft rodrigue beaubois. I am the bandwagon captain.

How much weight is on the bar for the benchpress?

Is it a true strength test, or an endurance test?

185.

Seems like it used to be 225, but I remember reading 185 somewhere.

That's actually quite a bit for max reps.

How many times was Bayless able to do it?

185 lbs for a while now I think.

I definitely know that Kevin Durant couldn’t even get one rep with 185 lbs. That’s just embarrassing.

The Kings have the best bench I’ve seen. There are easily 14 guys on this team good enough for every bench in the league. Now if we could only get some starters, I’d totally jizz in my pants.

Someone is going to fall in love

With Jeff Pendergraph’s 3/4 Court Sprint timing. I mean… Faster then Tyreke Evans?

Offseason:
(T)Mike Conley Jr
(T)Reggie Evans
(D)Taj Gibson
(D)Kevin Seraphin
(D)Jerel McNeal/Lester Hudson

Austin Daye is crazy long, but also slow and didn't do the bench press

Jordan Hill is pretty weak and slow for such a highly rated prospect (more ammo for the “Hill=bust” club of which I am a member).

by jksnake99 on Jun 2, 2009 2:00 PM PDT reply actions

Jordan Hill and Austin Daye will both be busts, albeit of a different variety.

Hill will be a disappointment in the same way as Chris Wilcox and Drew Gooden.

Daye, on the other hand, will suck in the NBA next season like Donte Greene did this season.

PF Situation

Has some amazing reach & could really be a Tyrus Thomas type of player. That is why I like him at 24th overall to play PF & SF for us. Good overall defender & I think Mo Lucas could help him a lot(hope he gets better). Then trade for Reggie Evans to play the PF against bigger 4’s till Gibson is ready(He can also provide good preparation for Gibson in practice, rebounding against bigger 4’s or bangers). Seraphin in the 2nd… I hope he does what Scola did & we get his draft rights. Then he can come over when he is like 25+ years old. My Ideal Situation:

09 PF’s:
Aldridge
Evans
Gibson
Seraphin(Euro Stash)
Freeland(Euro Stash)

It solves our PF situation for a long time & I see Gibson being able to defend a lot of SF’s in the NBA as well. He is somewhere between Tyrus Thomas(Shot Blocking/Timing) & Dennis Rodman(Rebounding). His length will really help him acclimate to the NBA. I want him at 24, because I don’t see anyone else at that point worth our pick.

Offseason:
(T)Mike Conley Jr
(T)Reggie Evans
(D)Taj Gibson
(D)Kevin Seraphin
(D)Jerel McNeal/Lester Hudson

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
