Rudy Gay, Mike Conley and craptastic Darko for Batum, Pryz, TO and Jerry Bayless. Too much? Not enough?

too much.

I would take Batum over Rudy Gay right now. I like Conley but that’s giving up too much.

Currently playing the role of Phoenix Suns GM Steve Kerr in the 2009 BlazersEdge Mock Draft.

Could we swap Webster for Batum?

Then I’d do this…

Conley/Blake
Roy/Rudy
Gay/Batum
LMA/Draft Pick (Pendergraph?)
Oden/Darko

I just love me some Batum. I can’t help it. DEFENSE! DEFENSE!

I don't think you can trade Webster with his bad foot.

Roy is the best player in the world with the exception of Incarcerated Mike from Queensbridge .

True.

A;ways forget about that part. Then I’d respectfully decline. I got high hopes for the young Frenchman. High hopes I tells ya.

A little too much.

Something like this seems more fair.

Roy is the best player in the world with the exception of Incarcerated Mike from Queensbridge .

Link issue?

It just takes me to the “how to use page”.

I don't know why the link doesn't work.

I think Rudy, Outlaw, and Blake for Gay, Conley, and a bad contract makes more sense for both teams.

Roy is the best player in the world with the exception of Incarcerated Mike from Queensbridge .

Yeah, this trade hurts both teams according to Hollinger

We definitely would have to keep Joel out. A signed and traded Frye would be potentially interesting to Memphis, he would definitely be their first backup. In a package with Outlaw and a point guard (last year they wanted Blake), I think that could land us Conley. If – big if – they take a guard to team up with Mayo and that makes Conley available.

by Norsktroll on Jun 19, 2009 11:33 PM PDT up reply actions

I think it is interesting

that Hollinger has both teams as worse. Don’t see how that is possible. I don’t think that Gay is over glorified Outlaw, he is 4th quarter Outlaw all game. He is better defensively and believe it or not he is more athletic. I know we value our guys but come on. Rudy Gay>TO at this point Conley>Bayless and Joel>Milicic we have to throw in Batum or Rudy to even it out. Maybe it is too much but still a good rotation is what we get:

Conley/Blake
Roy/Rudy
Gay/Webster
Aldridge/Milicic/#24 pick
Oden/Milicic

We are going to have to give up some young talent to consolidate at some point this summer. Too much talent for the available minutes.

by The Natural ala Mode on Jun 20, 2009 8:21 AM PDT up reply actions

We are better off in clutch games & playoffs

With Batum over Gay, I don’t want Rudy Gay complaining because he is sitting in the clutch. Because he doesn’t have the same defensive prowess.

Offseason:
PG Options: Terrence Williams(D), Rodrigue Beaubois(D)
SG Options: Mickaël Piétrus(T)
PF Options: Ronnie Turiaf(T) - Taj Gibson(D), Kevin Seraphin(D)

Yep

They always go to Travis against Memphis, because Rudy Gay makes him look like Kobe.

Yikes

I really hope that doesn’t happen. Not a Rudy Gay fan.

No thank you.

Bayless < Conley
Batum/TO > Gay (I wouldn’t be happy with straight up Batum for Gay at all)
Przy > Darko

Bayless, Batum, TO, Przy > Gay, Conley, Darko.

At least in my opinion.

I wouldn't be happy with a travis for Gay straight up.

I don't really want Gay

Rudy Gay is basically what Travis Outlaw would be getting lots of minutes and a ton of shots on a bad team.

If the trade were something like Bayless/Outlaw for Conley the Blazers might be willing to do it, but Batum/Przybilla >> Gay/Darko, especially if you factor in contracts.

Looking at Nick Van Excellent’s proposal of Rudy/Blake/Outlaw for Conley/Gay/bad contract, I wouldn’t do that trade either.

by trk on Jun 20, 2009 3:19 AM PDT reply actions

Too much for too little value

Gay is homeless man’s version of Roy and would be much less effective with the severely curtailed minutes he’d get here. Conley I like, but not enough to justify the rest. Darko is a crazy man’s Nikoloz Tskitishvili. So far his best nba move is the partial jersey tear.

Batum is alalready further ahead on defense.

I would rather just go after Conley, they can keep Gay.

No thanks to Gay.

Offensively he’s inefficient, defensively he’s a no-show. Offensive rating for 2009 was 101. Defensive rating was 110. Outlaw, comparatively, had 111 and 109, respectively. You thought we complained about Outlaw? Gay would take that to a whole new level.

by Nick Van Excellent on Jun 20, 2009 1:41 PM PDT up reply actions

Rudy Fernandez is actually good though

He was the #1 rookie last year in both statistical +/- (box score based stat that estimates how much a player is helping his team based on statistical production) and adjusted +/- (a measure of how much a better a team plays when that player is on the court, after adjusting for the quality of teammates and opposition). Actually, by those measures Rudy Fernandez is the 2nd best Blazer (behind Roy) and is much better than Rudy Gay.

If you want to win a championship AND see a show, don’t trade Rudy Fernandez.

by trk on Jun 20, 2009 2:39 PM PDT up reply actions

I know what +/- is.

It’s an incredibly inaccurate and misleading statistic that is better suited for judging a players production over a long period of time. One year is too small a sample size. By that measure the Thunder are better off without Durant (-6.4). It also suggests Jason Kidd is more important to the Mavericks than Dirk Nowitzki. What a silly statistic.

The Blazers don’t need a poor man’s Rip Hamilton playing behind Roy, even if he is extremely likable and fun to watch.

by Nick Van Excellent on Jun 20, 2009 4:32 PM PDT up reply actions

A year is plenty of time

And Durant was horrible last year on defense, which is why he had such a bad +/-. +/- has its faults, but it is a good stat to take into account.

by usmcr3049 on Jun 20, 2009 5:10 PM PDT up reply actions

So...

you think the Thunder would actually be better without Durant? Jason Kidd is the fifth best player in the league?

It is an interesting statistic, but it alone is not going to sway my opinion of Mr.Fernandez. I just think it’s prone to being unreliable because it’s so easily influenced by outside factors that don’t show up in the box score. It’s the same reason I don’t buy into most defensive stats. At any rate, the only thing I really care about is Rudy’s minutes per game and his trade value.

Playoff Minutes Per Game
Roy: 39.7
Aldridge: 39.5
Blake: 38.5
Outlaw: 28.3
Rudy: 27
Pryzbilla: 27
Oden: 16
Batum: 10.5
Frye: 6

It’s not good when the weakest position on your team is getting the 3rd most minutes per game. If you can trade your 5th most used player for a guy who can replace/improve the 3rd most used player I think you have to do it.

in a small sample size, the “Thunder” were actually better without Durant this year.

Maybe...

Drop Przy, Add some picks. So the deal looks like:

We get:
Rudy Gay
Mike Conley
Darko Milicic

They Get:

T.O., Batum, Sergio and all of our 2nd rd picks

I like Rudy Gay – hes the freakin man. I like Conley as well and I think he is the only guy that can put a real smile on Greg Odens face. I dont think this gets us a ring, but it would make us better. Rudy Gay and Webster make a great combo at SF, but I assume Web comes off the bench because of his foot. Plus we get a third string center ala Darko just in case Joel or Greg gets injured. I doubt this trade happens on any level but it maybe. And I better post it before I realize what is wrong with it. Anyways, feel free to shoot it full of holes, but all in good fun right!?
