Slam Online: The Ghost of NBA Draft Past wants us to select Victor Claver
Creative mock drafting by Slam Online. Looks like we will win the 2012 NBA finals if we do. Unfortunately the ghost also mocks Greg Oden a lot, so maybe it is Bill Simmons in disguise.

creative piece, and good find... but
I dont like the idea one bit.
Greg Oden = Robert Parish - The only other rookie with more than 500 points, 400 rebounds, and 65 blocks in under 1400 minutes played. Since 1946

Oden Bashing
I don’t think the writer cared one way or the other about whether Oden is the real deal or a bust. He had a joke and he wanted to use it. Shame it wasn’t funny
Interesting that he picked us for Jeff Teague, cause I don’t think KP is looking for a small SG disguised as a PG.
Oh but it was funny!
3 years ago. I’m so tired of the “Oden is old joke”
The NBA: Where Amazingly Bad Officiating Happens.
I totally forgot about Claver
This piece tries to be convincing, but ends up sounding a bit fanciful. Still, wouldn’t mind having the next Dirk.
They key about bringing Claver
is drafting him in the 2nd round so he can be offered an appropiate salary when his contract expires, otherwise he can find himself in 2 years with a tough decision: NBA or Greece or Russia getting 10xrookie scale.
He’s lottery talent.
Nobody expects a Spanish Acquisition!
I would be happy to pick him up and keep him if we got him in the 2nd round.
A year or two in Europe to age and bake would be a good risk coming from the 2nd round. His video’s look promising superior athleticism’s compared to Freeland and even more so compared to Kopenen (even though he’s a PG). I think if they are waived, it wouldn’t be a terrible idea to draft Claver and see how it progresses after surgery. To be honest, I could imagine his knee really putting a damper on his athleticism but if he fills out his frame and gets stronger I can see him being useful to us.
The surgery was last year, he already plays again. He extended for three years, but has "affordable" buyouts
I notice that now.
That’s why I meant in the “long term”, by staying in Europe for a year or two. I would not bring him over immediately knowing that he could be a risk or even sub-par in his abilities. Let him bake in Europe and put some muscle on, then see if we want to bring him over.
