Rafer Alston, skip to my blazer?
I was just watching game 5 of the finals, and the announcers mentioned that when Rafer Alston was on the bench for the 4th quarter and overtime of game 4 he was very unhappy. So they began wondering if he would be happy being a back up to Jameer Nelson next year. If not they would have to trade him. Is he an upgrade for us? I don't really know, Houston ssemed to decide that Aaron brooks was better. But I have liked how he is performing in the Finals, most people thought is was an obvious mistake to have Nelson in so much. Is he someone the Blazers would want?

Blake >>>>>>>>>>>>Alston
IMHO. Blake has almost identical points and assists but has a far better FG% (in every category). Blake is the more efficient player overall. Aaron Brooks, on the other hand…
It's too bad, too.
I bet he’d love to play here.

its finally begun!
The Blazers as a whole are far more like my wife than like me in the sense of their physicality on defense.

By the way
I floated this idea, but I just wanted to see what people thought. I think that Alston is not as bad as some think, but he would be a good back up on a good team. That’s the problem, he is unhappy to be a back up, but that might be where he would succeed.
He did get his team to the finals, but I realize that on Orlando Hedo and others really did a lot of the passing. His team got to the playoffs last year, with Houston, but they lost in the first round. They did replace him as soon as Aaron was ready, then they did much better. That says a lot. I would rather have several of the point guards in this years draft than Rafer.
I would not think Skip would be an upgrade for us.
Or worth the mere effort of acquiring.

The Orlando Magic are set at point guard now with Jameer Nelson, Rafer Alston, and Anthony Johnson.
No matter my personal opinion regarding those guys, I doubt that the Magic will alter its point guard situation this off-season.
Not gonna lie, the same thought popped into my head tonight too.
Although it seems I may be in the minority here, i think that he would fit in well with roy, minus the more than occasional bonehead turnovers. He would bring something to the table that blake doesnt do and thats the ability to breakdown the defense and get to the basket. Outside of roy who else on the team has been able to do that on a consistent basis. Plus, he can play solid defense. Im not saying he’s the answer at point but i do think he would be an upgrade over blake. If we could get him for a reasonable price i think it would make sense.
Rafer Alston
is in no way an upgrade over Blake. He is a turnover prone, streetballer. He consistently makes the wrong pass and takes stupid shots.

The Magic made it to the finals in spite of Alston, not because of him.
