Turkoglu
Hedo Turkoglu Trade
Chris Sheridan's latest article on ESPN stated that the Blazers are a possible destination for Hedo Turkoglu if he leaves the Magic this offseason. Orlando is unlikely to reach into their wallets and pay the luxery tax in order to keep Turk, so a sign-and-trade is a likely scenario. The Blazers have a need at small forward and are desperate for a playmaker to go along with B-Roy. The Magic could use extra cap space and cannot afford to lose Turk for nothing. If the Blazers and Magic were to make a deal, I'd say this would be the most likely option:
Hedo Turkaglu (signed for 3 years, 8-10 mill) for Travis Outlaw and Nicolas Batum
The Blazers could use their available cap room (roughly 7-9 mill) to cover the difference in salaries. What do you think?

Not likely
I really like Hedo, but as many people have said before me, the man can’t or won’t play defense. In the Finals, it’s gotten to where it’s embarrassing. He would drive Nate crazy.
Also, we already have a playmaking non-PG to run the offense during crunchtime.
It think this is the important part.
…the Blazers covet a point guard upgrade from Steve Blake more than they covet a small forward upgrade from Nicolas Batum. If that’s the case, they might decide to swing an uneven trade, salary-wise, in which they use their cap space to bring in a top-tier point guard rather than Turkoglu or another small forward.-espn
Roy is the best player in the world with the exception of Incarcerated Mike from Queensbridge .

It might work
Seeing as alot of people think Brandon should run the point. It would be nice having 2 guys that can run the point in Roy and Hedo. We could have a big lineup with Brandon, Rudy, Hedo, LMA, Przybilla.
That wouldnt be that bad
Offensively yes...definsively?
I agree that Brandon could run the point if we needed him too. Especially with Rudy and Hedo to help him with ball handling. However, when I think about why we need a top tier PG, it’s really defense that I’m looking at. Brandon cannot defend PGs for a whole game, nor can Rudy, they’re just not fast enough.
your right
Why not get a backup PG who can play defese. Somebody who knows how to run an offense and play defese. Not sure who but somebody out there has to fit that mold
I wouldn't want to give up Nic since having him learn behind a veteran would be part of the plan
And today Orlando said they would pay the luxury tax to keep their core and Turkoglu.
“We’ve always avoided the tax, but winning has a crazy effect on people,‘’ [Magic President and CEO] Vander Weide said. "The [DeVos] family (which owns the team) is having fun right now. I don’t think anyone has a willingness to stay in tax for 10 years, but to go in for a few years to ride this out, I don’t think that’s threatening to our family short term.’’

I wouldn't be surprised if we got Hedu
and I wouldn’t be surprised if we also got another point guard from somewhere else to go along with him.
Chris Dudley for three!
Why would we give up Batum?
He is such a promising prospect. I don’t mind Turkoglu though

I think we already depend on our centers too much
Hedo isn’t going to play any defense and that’s going to leave Przybilla and (especially) Oden out to dry. Another playmaker isn’t going to help anywhere near as much as improved defense.
"It’s a good ol’ fashioned Rip City beat down!"
I would rather give up
Outlaw and Webster than to let Batum go. As said above, Turk would help out our offense, but our problem is defense. Improve our defense and our offense can get out and run more.
"Orlando is unlikely to reach into their wallets and pay the luxery tax in order to keep Turk"
Well, we can dream, but I’m not so confident:
“Magic Will Pay Luxury Tax to Re-Sign Hedo Turkoglu”
Magic President and chief executive officer Bob Vander Weide told FanHouse that ownership likely would approve paying the luxury tax for the first time if it means keeping the nucleus of this team together.
“I want Hedo Turkoglu In Red and Black”.
“Is there anyone from the blazers that intrigues you ? That you would like In a trade?”
“yea…brandon roy”
“I find it highly unlikely that Hedo Turkoglu leaves Orlando, for a myriad of reasons.”
“Give us Travis Outlaw/Joel Pryzbilla or LaMarcus Aldridge”
“I’m going to save the drama. Hedo isn’t going to Portland so ..”
is anyone else sick of the new auto links?
i almost clicked on Hedo’s name in the fanpost because i thought the author was posting a trade machine link. it kind of gets out of hand having every player named linked in the article. it reminds me of all those ad-word popups that some websites use. it would be so much better if they just put those links at the bottom of the article right above the rec count.
Please, for the love of all that is holy, please stop using the following: "Book it.", "FTW", "Epic" & "Fail".
...no seriously--stop.
They do both. You have to manually go back and "break" the links you don't want and uncheck the "related links" you don't want
Yeah, it’s a pretty stupid way to increase click rates.
Defence?
I don’t know why everybody is complaining about Turkey Glue’s D. He’s not spectacular, but he has played some solid D on Kobe, and even got a key block that brought the Magic to overtime in game 2. He’s not a lock-down defender, but I’d give him the edge on Travis. We could play Hedo and Nic at the same time occasionally, with Nicolas guarding the most challenging assignment at the 2 or 3, and Brandon and Hedo guarding the least challenging assignments at the either the 2 or the 3, and the 4 (Hedo is 6’10" remember).
agreed
just bc someone isn’t a solid defender doesnt mean he doesn’t play any d. i’ll take him over trout or blakes defense right now.
