FYI - links in comments - REVISED
The system (unaided by mods) will flag a comment as spam if it contains more than five links. It's called a "throttle violation". I've been ignoring those flags, as the ones I see on BE are informative, not spam. However, this morning someone (not a BE regular) has been banned by the system for having too many throttle violations. I don't know how many are too many, but those of you who tend to put lots of links in one comment may want to keep those to five or below. You can always add more later. (This doesn't apply to Ben's front page stories.) Update: Sorry; they are links in replies, not in the original fanshot, fanpost, or story. I don't know if Dave can undo a system ban; I would hope so.

Um, the system itself puts links to player and team sites in all FanPosts, often much more than five. Unless you go back and edit the post to tell it not to (broken link symbol, uncheck boxes)
Or is that only for links outside of SBN (external)? Even then five seems low. And that’s a pretty primitive method to scan for spam.
I have quite a few of these throttle violations...i haven't been banned...
yet.

Wow
I can understand the need to block spam and there’s probably a technical reason for limiting the number of links, but this seems excessive. Only five links? The workaround — adding additional links in a reply — seems clumsy. Can you imagine a well-researched post like Norsk’s Leagueconomics post without lots of links?
I didn't know the system could automatically ban somebody.
This supports my theory that the mods are mere tentacles of a humongous supercomputer.
Are there any other offences for which one could get banned automatically by System? Using “your” in place of “you’re”? Posting more than 12 trade proposals in a week?
Once System automatically bans somebody, can the moderators un-ban them?
I’m scared.

You should be.
It’s like “Terminator”. The machines have turned against us. Wait ’till they take over voting and Mr. Coffee 2010 become President Coffee 2010. Then the caffeine wars begin…

Why do you think
I’ve been gone from Bedge for so long? I’ve been setting the pieces in place.
This is my first move.
Be very afraid.
When I rule the world, everyone will know how to use Excel.
I assume you mean the comments in the post
and not the post itself?
