Houston fans yelling the "N" word at Martell Webster
Listen to the podcast at the 32 minute mark. Barrett talks about Houston fans yelling the "N" word at Martell Webster. Maybe I'm pollyannish or naive, but that doesn't seem like typical fan behavior. There's always a few jerks at games, but why didn't security or other fans around do something about shutting those guys up who were yelling racial epithets?
If you listen to this one at about the 10 1/2 minute mark, KP talks about being cursed at and having drinks thrown at him while he was courtside in Houston.
I'm not saying Portland's fans are always classy, and by and large I am sure Houston fans are great...but they sure do seem to have a few screw balls who really crossed the line without meeting much resistance.

That would be astonishing, if it were true...

We all know Barrett and Rice are total homers...
but I don’t think they would make something like that up and speak about it on air.

Not to take away from our moral outrage at this
It is a reprehensible act. Mostly, though, I’m struck by how odd it is; I mean, we’re talking about the NBA, which must be, what, 70, 75% African-American? Maybe higher? How does it make any damn sense to throw racial slurs around at any one individual?
I find it all very confusing.

Do they think Ron-Ron and Battier are white?
Well, maybe I can see Battier…he DID play at Duke.

Remember the Orlando fam...
Who was shouting racial slurs at Dikembe Mutumbo… Dude lost his season tickets.
I say we make a call for the Rockets ticket office to do the same.

I listened to that show live
and they said that happened and that there is no way they would ever root for Houston now. I was waiting for someone to post this…
Here is my Playoff mode signature, that I thought up myself: "Just Do It".

It's really ridiculous
this shouldn’t be surprising, but still the ignorance is outstanding

Wow
Houston’s definitely got the smart fans and the dumb fans, but the dumb ones just got much, much dumber.

I don't blame all your fans
It’s sad and stuff but I’m sure not all Rockets fans are like that just all all Lakers fan’s aren’t trolls and all Blazers fans aren’t those ’Zers jerks on ESPN.com

Having been to Houston
I’m not surprised. Last city in Texas I’d live in (having not been to any other.)

This just makes me sad.
How anyone could say that to someone they paid money to come and watch is beyond me. No one deserves to be called names like that. That’s offensive and completely out of line in any environment.
Not only that, but what did the Blazers ever do to Houston to deserve stuff like that? They are all great people that deserve nothing but respect and appreciation for setting an example of what professional athletes should be. Despicable acts by Houston fans.

Does anyone have video effidence?
pretty shocking. I believe every word of MB. I’m pretty sure they won’t make any lies about that… this is horrible.
My first season as a Blazer... it was a memorable season.

This is exactly why I offered zero congratulations to Houston.
For one series only, I am rooting for the L*kers, and I hope K0be demoralizes them in Houston. F the Rockets and their fans, and this is coming from a guy who has an undying hatred for the L*kers.

F' them and their trashy fans (the ones who aren't trashy are cool in my book)
But I’m still rooting for them to whip the Lakers.

I’m surprised none of you have mentioned Utah’s racist fans. Golden State at Utah, anyone?
