Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

What team should Blazer fans be rooting for now that the Blazers are out. I came to the conclusion that it should be the Hawks or the Mavs. What are your picks?

Clearly the Rockets.

They have the Adelman/Drexler connection.
They beat us so we look better.
They have few dicks on their team.
A weirdly respectful first round series was played with them.
Hakeem.
Yao.
I guess the last two don’t work if you don’t like big men.

Mavs are second.
They are a dying team so they pose little threat to the future of the Blazers.
I like Dirk.
The Cuban/Stern factor.

I will root for the Rockets.

But just barely.

Roy is the best player in the world with the exception of Incarcerated Mike from Queensbridge .

I hope Rox/Mavs

Cause Den/LA WCF is about the worst thing i could think of Besides Utah/LA

I'm really quite conflicted

I like watching LeBron, so I guess I’ll be rooting for the Cavs out of the East (since they’re going to win, that’s a convenient pick for me).

In the West? Rockets over Lakers, of course. I can’t stand the way this Mavs team plays, and as much as it pains me, I’m loving the up-and-down way the Nuggets are playing. It hurts my heart to root for a division rival (who ended up TWO seeds ahead of us despite identical records and head-to-head matchup – you think that we wouldn’t have a great chance of being in the same spot they are, given those matchups?), I think I’m rooting for Denver.

Additionally, I may be the person on this board who LOVES the Birdman, and I’m rooting for him the whole time he’s in.

Rockets

I hate their classless fans, but every team has bad fans. I really have a lot of respect for Yao, and there isn’t anyone on that team that doesn’t play hard, except maybe for T-Mac.

Lakers

I don’t want Cavaliers to win.

I'm on this boat too.

If the Lakers actually get the the championship, I’m rooting against the East.

If you want to look into it to much...

For all those in favor of the possibility of getting Ron Artest you might have to wonder if our chances go down with the progression of the Rockets in the playoffs. That being said I want Artest and go Rockets!

HAWKSSSS

the blazers of the east
Joe Johnson=Brandon
Josh Smith=Travis
Al Horford=Lamarcus
Zaza=Pryz
Flip Murray=Rudy

makes perfect sense to me

Blazers+Blazersedge=Mind Blown

by TappedPotential on May 6, 2009 5:28 PM PDT reply actions

Joe Johnson

is the anti-Brandon. He disappears in big games.

by BrewDude on May 7, 2009 8:59 AM PDT up reply actions

True.

But i didn’t say the comparison was exact. Joe might not step up like Brandon, but there aren’t many that do what he does.

Rockets

I don’t believe they will be a power for very long. I do believe that Yao will bet injured before too long. I think that the contenders in the future will be the L*kers, the Cavs, the Hawks, the Magic and the Thunder. I am worried about one of those teams gaining momentum. If a team wins a title, it will make it tougher for Portland to overcome them.

Whoever's playing the L*kers.

+1

The Blazers as a whole are far more like my wife than like me in the sense of their physicality on defense.

I'm going for the Hawks. Up and coming young team.

Besides that, anyone that plays the L*kers

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
