I can't stop giggling
at the thought of Brandon, let alone Travis, on the all-defense team.

Somebody pulled a Swirsky
The voting panel consisted of the NBA’s 30 head coaches, who were asked to select NBA All-Defensive First and Second Teams by position. Coaches were not permitted to vote for players from their own team. Two points were awarded for a First Team vote and one point was awarded for a Second Team vote.
Whoever voted for Outlaw must have done it for comedic reasons. Someone actually voted for David Lee on the 1st team. I don’t think they take this seriously. At least I hope so.

Anyone who voted for Brandon Roy or Travis Outlaw is a fool.

Maybe Outlaw blocked a ball in his face on the sideline :)
Does anybody have memories or video of such an event?

maybe it was the Wizards' coach?
Roy did get 10 steals against them…

uh...
how is Wade not on the first team? I guess it’s arguable with Kobe, but wasn’t Wade 3rd in the DPOY voting?

Wade is a better defender than Kobe

If there was an All Defense Third Team
Joel Przybilla is on it!

This is great
now maybe we can trade Outlaw to a team and fool their fans in to thinking he is a D stopper!
anything to boost his stock!

I'd put odds on Atlanta's coach voting for Brandon
I presume he never forgot Brandon hounding Joe Johnson into a contested outside shot to cost them a game last year.
Considering the players who got votes, it would not surprise me if coaches vote purely on how a player did against their team for 2-5 games a season.
Was there a team this year that Travis had a couple good defensive games against?

Whoever voted for Outlaw
has never watched a Blazer game in their entire life.

Outlaw plays great defense in spurts
but we better remember the spurts where he… err.. plays less than great defense.
by Gargen on May 6, 2009 5:57 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
If by "spurts" you mean
1 possession per season, then yeah, he plays great defense in spurts.

remember
on the espn season awards thing they said that outlaw is a great defender and a slasher so obviously the world outside of portland has another view of him
also i think it was memphis that picked him for defense because he always plays well against them(i know its only of offense but they gave away gasol for nothing so they obviously have no idea about anything basketball related there)

I really like Travis, but I would so love to see a press conference where another GM announces a trade for him and says "we are glad to have picked up a great scorer and defensive stopper"
I still think Travis ideally could play like Josh Smith on defense, but I’m losing hope.
