Honestly, do we really need another small forward? We have Batum, a promising player and excellect defender, Outlaw, who is considered one of the best bench players in the league. Also, lets not forget we have Webster coming back. Granted, we really dont know what to expect from him, but even if he doesn't perform, So what? We already get enough production out of Outlaw and Batum, and Batums production is only going to go up over the next few years.
What we really need is a good, experienced, true point guard. Steve Blake is about an average point guard. Sure, he can shoot the three, but realistically, he is very limited talent-wise. He's not that good of defender, and he cant drive the lane or set his teammates up for good shots consistently. Sergio will never be good, the only thing he can do is throw lob passes to Rudy. And honestly, can we really hand the keys over to Bayless in a few years? Hes a shoot first point guard who isn't even that good of a shooter. I think he shows good potential, but has a long way to go before he will have a significant impact.
Why not go after a Jason Kidd or an Andre Miller? And no, I don't want to hear about how old they are. All I'm saying is bring in a good, experienced, true point guard who plays both sides of the ball. With that, it will buy us two or three years to find someone who will be a good franchise point guard.
