Bakersfield Jam Dancers dissolved - rumors of BlazerFan1 behind decision unfounded
Yes, the Blazer Dancers will likely return next season. But the Bakersfield Jam Dancers will have to look for a new engagement. Not because they were so bad (though that is debatable). Not because the thousands hundreds dozens of fans watching them every week complained about their outfits (lots of long stockings, apparently). Their D-League team is folding (affiliates: Warriors, Magic). And not just the dancers, mascot "Swish" - a cute dancing fox - also has to find a new employer.
But there is hope: Some brave bloggers are gauging interest to buy the operation, hoping to strike riches, develop young players, and maybe bring the dancers back. And Swish.

I think it's funny like critiques of player profiles on draft sites - and there is quite a lot of bashing of their outfits and routines
Sounds entertaining :-)

Thanks
For giving this fitting tribute the love it deserves.

Yes
There is at least one more: Idaho assistant coach Joel Abelson. I was trying to think of a good nickname for him, but there wasn’t. Thus, Vanilla Gorilla seemed appropriate, as the Blazers affiliate should be like the Blazers in as many ways as possible.
Plus, when Joel read it, he said via text:
Yo uve stepped ur humor game up for real. The vanilla gorilla is unbelievable. I’m making everyone call me that.
So it’s a bit late to change it now.

regarding Bravo lima alpha zulu echo romeo Foxtrot alpha november 1
I thought that womens liberation meant that dancers were OK?
What ever happened to the theory that women can use their bodies to possess control and power over men and other interests? When those girls get paid their big bucks ($12/hour), aren’t they being liberated by being able to use their talents to make money?
I thought that feminists just wanted women to be able to work like men… now that they’re working, they still want more. In Sophia’s case, that more is no dancing. So does she want those dancers to just stay at home and do the laundry? I don’t get it. Please explain.
This is primarily a D-League post. Those dancers and the mascot are "collateral damage" of the bad basketball economy
"collateral damage"
Does that mean they are not as important as the (male) basketball players?
The dancers, the mascot, and the players are all employees of the team. But you only give credit to the players and consider the dancers and mascots “collateral damage”. Is that akin to feeling bad for the teachers and students when a school cuts days off its operation due to budget cuts, but only considering the custodians and cafeteria cooks as “collateral damage”?
Don’t you share the American ideals that all people are created equal and have an equal right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?
I'm just pissed that they don't allow me on the dance team
Just because I can’t wear long stockings and halter tops as well as the ladies do? I cry discrimination!
Thanks for the Fanshot...
They had probably some of the worst outfits in the D-League. White is not a flattering color when stretched across gyrating booties.
speaking of stretching
some of the dancers for my favorite local club have stretch marks around their lower abdomen/waist area… it’s sort of funny.
Okay...so in a sign by the highway reading "Free Showers For Truckers" kind of way?
glad to know we’re on the same page about this.
A great way to score points with the dancers
Is to say something like, “Hey, those stretch marks look great!”, while pointing at them and talking really loud. Try it sometime!

does Woodland, CA fit into this mix?
AL MVP Dustin Pedroia called his hometown “a dump” and then apologized later.
Pedroia’s 29-year old brother just pleaded guilty to “oral copulation” with a boy under the age of 14 years old… as they say, “When in Woodland” …

yes, it's: Water, Wealth, Contentment, Health
Interestingly, “Nobody’s Got Modesto’s Goat” actually came in first place after a town contest in 1912 to find a slogan for the new arch inspired by the Modesto Business Men’s Association. Cooler heads prevailed and it was bypassed for the slogan which still remains on the arch today.
There is a reason why I-5 bypasses these towns
and despite the feetlot in Coalinga, is still a nicer way to get to LA.

Funny how just mentioning it
Makes once dang near be able to re-experience the ambiance of it…the sights, the sounds, and especially the smells

I once spend a day at the KOA campground near Willows in August
What was interesting was that there were literally 10’s of thousands of toads. In the showers, on the ground, everywhere! I asked the manager what was up with that, and she said the toads came because the previous week was when the annual cricket hatch occurred, so there were crickets by the millions, in the showers, on the ground, everywhere!
I made a mental note that I need to schedule a two week vacation there sometime, so I ca experience the full cycle, along with the 110 F-degrees heat.

Well
2 more came in so they’re really not losing a team… But the league started with 6 or 8 I believe and they struggled through that..

It's away from the topic. I think I'll delete the post soon. Sorry Sophia, I just wanted a story hook.
I dunno...

I may not get back to the big leagues if you knock me down. Dang Tom, chill with the stalking pics.
Iceman... I've got your back on this one
This is my favorite FanShot of the month.
It’s pretty funny really. I hope Norsk is dissuaded from deleting it. Sophia outed herself to the world a couple weeks ago, and nothing I’ve posted is “private” material.
Nooooo
sorry Norsk for semi-hijacking this thread into a discussion of feminism in the modern world.
As G_dubs eloquently says below, Sophia is the one who linked the Bedge Nation to her personal blog when complaining about the Blazers Dancers. At this point, it all seems fair game to me. Perhaps I’m wrong. If so, please explain to me why it isn’t.
The fanpost she did on the Blazer dancers links to her blog
where her original blogpost on the subject is also published. This photo is very prominately featured on her blog.
"The match in Los Angeles is a good opportunity to begin to demonstrate that we want to make war." Rudy Fernández (translated)
Yep
I’m just helping her out by getting her blog more hits.
If anything, she should be paying me for this work.
to put it another way
Norsk got his “story hook” (and story line and sinker as well) and Sophia’s blog just doubled its readership.
Everybody is a winner, no?
yes... and you deserve it.. hilarious
So how did you get so interested in the D-League? And why Bakersfield? Last time I went through there (3 or 4 years ago) I stopped at some Mexican fast food joint but didn’t see much else of the city.
Wasn’t too impressed with Bakersfield… seemed like it was a company town for Big-Agriculture, Big-Oil and who knows what. Is it a fine place to raise children?
I live in North Carolina...
I like the D-League because I like following some mid-tier college players after they graduate (see: DeMarcus Nelson, James Mays, David Noel) and because Ridiculous Upside is a fun place to comment. The D-League is fun to watch (really, I’m not lying) and there is plenty of unintentional comedy built in.
I only wrote a post about the Bakersfield Dancers because they had the most youtube clips and their team was folding. And apparently, their town is crappy/sketchy.
Ah NC... so you might be familiar with Shavlick Randolph ?
Shav’s chiropractor, Dr. Alan Celeste, is a regular commenter on BE and sort of gives us some insider, back channel info on the team. Like, he drove Shav and Jerryd Bayless to the arena before one of their games and said Bayless looked focused. Sure enough, he got playing time and dominated.
It will be interesting to see what happens to Shav next season. Will he ever go down to the D-League? Maybe he will make for some good fodder at Ridiculous Upside some day. Who knows…
As for Bakersfield, it seems like pretty much the rest of California’s Central Valley—farms, prisons and smog.
I feel bad for Shav....
He went to Duke, got injured, played out of position, and faltered. Glad you guys still retain him. You better believe I’ll be all up on his season review.
He might do some good going to the D. I could see him posting some 25-8 type numbers with the right team.
Dude's a baller fo sho
He had a “perfect” boxscore in the ore season. Going from memory, 9 for 9 from the field, some rebounds, some blocks, zero or maybe 1 turnover, all in the forth quarter. It got him a spot on the rotster ahead of Stephen Hill, whom Nate had just told the press a day or two earlier would almost certainly be making the squad. I really really hoped he would get more at during the regular season. Everyone loves a good comeback story, yes?
"The match in Los Angeles is a good opportunity to begin to demonstrate that we want to make war." Rudy Fernández (translated)
Should read "preseason", not ore season
Gack.
"The match in Los Angeles is a good opportunity to begin to demonstrate that we want to make war." Rudy Fernández (translated)

I just want to stay out of the way (Sorry Tom).
the day we all were supposed to post pictures of ourselves in a thread (after BE Night at the Agency)
I posted this picture below. It’s actually a mugshot from when Gus Van Sant got a DUI in Portland a few years ago. But people never questioned it was me. They just think I really am that creepy.

i got it from SmokingGun.com

You really outdid yourself once again with this FanShot. And it should be on the front page in the Recommended FanShots for another day or two.
I’m glad it received a lot of play… it’s been fun.

We are good at discussing what is politically correct or not. I remember the photo of the Spanish basketball team posing with a slant eye gesture before the Olympics generated over a thousand, but that was a fanpost and got so wild it ultimately was deleted. Guess who started it :)
You are quite Fan Post/Shotter
