Meh, those are effectively "who can grab 4th and 5th place votes from guys who hate Paul/Howard"
What they need to do is have a seperate voting for everyone outside the big 5. Let’s be honest. The people whose 5 votes didn’t go to Lebron, Wade, Paul, Howard, and Kobe are probably the least knowledgeable of the voters. (Or blatant homers.) The guys who voted for the top 5 probably realize that Roy should be 6th, but they don’t get to vote for him because they voted for the 5 deserving players.
Hope that all made sense!

Seriously
These people have not watched a game west of the Rocky Mountains.

The better question
Is who are these people voting Chris Paul in 1st place?
I am kind of suprised how high paul and pierce are too.
I hope I can get a bunch of championships, like 15. " - Greg Oden

the order should be:
LeBron, CP3, Wade, Kobe, Howard, Roy

I agreee with Bill Simmons about CP3
The first player to lead the league in assists and steals AND finish in the top 10 in scoring. We might as well start there. Only five players led the league in steals and assists since 1974; Paul has done it in consecutive years. If he scores 39 against the Spurs in his final game, he’ll become the fourth player to average 23-plus points and 11-plus assists in one season (joining Oscar, Magic and Tiny Archibald). Since the All-Star break, with Tyson Chandler battling injuries and missing 18 games, Paul carried the extra load by averaging a 25-11-6. For the season, he’s shooting 50 percent from the field and 87 percent from the line, and his assist-to-turnover ratio is an astonishing 11-to-3. I don’t know what’s left.
Oh, wait, I know: His supporting cast isn’t good. David West is their only other scorer. They have no low-post presence at all. Their best rebounder/shot-blocker (Chandler) struggled all season. They didn’t crack the top 12 in FG percentage (currently 14th), 3-point percentage (17th), steals (16th), rebounds (24th), blocks (26th), points scored (26th) or assists (28th), making it only in FT percentage (third), points allowed (fourth) and opposing FG percentage (seventh). Basically, they’re a good defensive team that can’t rebound, can’t shoot very well and can’t succeed unless its point guard plays well. And they’re going to win 50 games? Huh? Throw in how he kept them together after the demoralizing Chandler trade got vetoed and he’s the clear No. 2.

Hmm... tough one
I would agree but Wade’s number are equally ridiculous and his supporting cast could be argued as even worse!

but Paul's team won more games
in a tougher conference

I agree.
At least NO has a clear #2. There is no clear second scoring/go-to option in Miami. Beasley? I guess, but is still developing his offensive game in the NBA and needs to work on less long range 2’s. O’neal? He’s too inconsistent to put out 20 a game now. They’re full of two-bit role players and one superstar. It’s a pretty bad mix.
On top of that, despite Chandler’s ineffectiveness, him and CP3 were still able to execute their infamous pick and roll with regularity.
On a side note- I would argue against the belief that the Western Conference is vastly superior. One argument is the interconference records. The Eastern Conference, as a whole, was 231-219 against the west. Conversely, the Western Conference was 219-231 against the Eastern Conference.

I want to know who voted LeBron third...
You can make an argument for second I suppose, but how can you justify putting (presumably) Kobe AND Wade ahead of him?
1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21... I know...

Must've been K@be and a homer.
Maybe Chuck Swersky wrote in Chris Bosh?

I don’t have a problem with Billups being ahead of Roy, necessarily. It’s not how I would vote, but at least you can make the case, anyway. Parker is a lot tougher given the presence of Duncan, to say nothing about Manu. And Pierce, well geez, he plays in a weak division with a pair of HOFers; of course he’s a top player, but I wonder how many games they’d win or lose if it was him injured and Garnett was fine.
But you look at the impact Billups has had on that team and it’s pretty incredible. And they did manage to win the division. Without him, I don’t see them in the playoffs, with or without Iverson.
