Who you got now, that the Blazers are out?
Now that the First Round is over, and the second round has begun, and the Blazers ain't in it--who would you LIKE to see hoisting the Larry O'Brien trophy come June?
Or do you even care?
So far, one 2nd-round game has been played, with Denver whomping on Dallas after getting a bye in the first roundbeating the decimated Hornets. (#$! Hornets--can't make free throws. #$@ Spurs--giving Denver a freebie. #$! #@ #$!!!). Many commentators are, naturally, picking a Lakers/Cavs final.
So, fellow Bedgers, who do you want to see win?
This might seem like blasphemy to some, but I'd like to see Houston--even though they just kicked our butt. For one, Rick Adelman needs a ring. For another, Ron Artest aside, the Rockets are a classy organization. For a third, a Houston title would mean an embarassing second round exit for You Know Who.
As a second choice, I'll go with my favorite team besides Portland--Anybody but the L--ers.

I <3 the Hawks. Favorite team to watch other than the Blazers. Why? Because of how insane it is that this group of guys is playoff-savvy.
Also, J-Smoove has taken the “might be” out of the sentence “he might be my favorite non-blazer.” That guy is both talented and hilarious.
If he signed with the Blazers “hilarious” would turn into “infuriating,” but that doesn’t matter right now.

i agree!
In general.. I don’t care.. not in the playoffs. but in who wins..
but the Hawks have been my eastern conference team of preference for the last couple of seasons and I’d love to see them upset the Cavs.. that’d be fun..
In the west, I just hope every team beats each other up and that someone on Dallas knocks Birdman down once or twice..

I take it round by round
My predictive powers aren’t too good… well, maybe because I can’t stomach the possibility of 2 weeks of K*be/LBJ gushing if LA/CLE happens. So for this round, I’ll take CLE, BOS, DEN, and of course, HOU.

WANTS to see a Cavs vs Lakers finals.. or a Cavs vs Rockets Final…
The international viewing would be crazy with the Rockets vs Cavs finals.

Anyone who plays the Lakers
Failing that, Cleveland. I can’t help but want LeBron to win his title before we take over the NBA for several years…

Agreed
I want the Cavs to get the title, I think that greatly increases the chances that Lebron sticks with Clevland which would be great. I foresee one of the greatest impediments to our potential dynasty is Lebron signing with one of the huge market teams…Chicago, LA, or NY.

I’ll follow the M’s until they inevitably fall apart then I’ll watch golf.

Been lucky enough
to spend a long weekend up in Peoria the last few springs. Last year shared a table outside a crowded in-and-out burger with Ichiro and his wife on an off day. Didn’t take long for the season to become irrelevant. Hoping this year stays interesting at least til Football starts again.

Let's see, isn't it all of you guys constantly complaining about how bad the refereeing is?
The NBA product is bad. I watch it only because of the Blazers. I fail to see how this point of view is any different than the others. I still answered the question that was posed on-topic.

I think I hate Denver almost as much as LA. Chris Anderson just needs to be kicked out of the NBA for life.

Birdman is great for the NBA
There is no reason for him to be kicked out of the NBA. In fact, if Portland had him, he’d be a fan favorite. You’ve gotta love a high energy, high flier with charisma.

Birdman should do one of those Axe commercials
where he is mugged and forced to wash his hair. They should probably follow-up with a scola commercial too.
by NWfan on May 5, 2009 10:10 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Nope
Don’t like him because he’s a piece of trash who tried hard to piss his life away, but got it all back because of physical gifts that he was born with. However, he still apparently has mommy/abandonment issues because every time he does something good on the court he has to turn to the crowd for approval, who give it to him, because they care more about cool blocks and wins than they do about living a decent life.
If Birdman was 6’0 he would currently be in prison/dead via drug related charges/overdose.

dude
I don’t care how he does it, if one person stares down the abyss of addiction and comes back to be a productive member of society, I applaud that. I have had family members go through addiction recovery and that shit is not easy no matter how high you can jump. Hating on the Birdman for getting his life back together is pretty twisted if you ask me.

Wow
Strong hate. Drug abuse is not something that anyone “tries hard” at, nor is it an easy feat to recover from, let alone come back and be a gifted athlete. If anybody his height could do it, why can’t outlaw do it? Why can’t any 6’9" person basketball player average the second most blocks in the league IN LIMITED MINUTES? Andersen spent a lot of time during his suspension studying and learning the game.
As for his on-court demeanor, give me a break. You think he lives the haphazard lifestyle? Do you go home at night with Andersen?
Apparently you don’t understand the concept of reform.

with the Cavs being victorious. There is nothing I hate more than over zealous Kobe fans. Going to the finals two straight years and losing would be awesome.
Plus, Lebron is a freaking machine. That guy is bar none the best NBA player. He deserves a ring.

with Houston winning because I kinda like underdogs…although having the Lakers lose to the Cavs is pretty appealing, also.

Houston,
because I want to look back and say that the only reason the Blazers lost in the first round was because they happened to be playing the eventual NBA champions that year.

There are exactly two contenders
I am a big Cavs fan (living in Columbus), and they have a real shot, with homecourt.
Feels like the Lakers year, though. If it is, Kobe should get as little credit as possible.

Makes me ill...
…but part of me say’s let’s just let Kobe get his championship. Then he and The L*kers can evolve to the next step, which will be to become complacent and over confident. At Kobe’s age? We are not talking sustainable dynasty regardless of what happens this season. So now that we have bowed out, let them have their party now. Our is the future! Might be more fun for The Blazers to knock out “Defending Champion” L*kers next year.
God I hate to type that though…..FORGET IT! ANYONE BUT THE L*KERS!

It would be the Cavs, not for LBJ, but because I went to college and worked in Cleveland when Stepien was the owner and was in the Richfield Coliseum with maybe 3,000 other fans many times waiting for the Cavs to do something good.
Good thing there was the MISL Force. Those games were fun.

its kind of funny, you’d think after a tough series we’d be rooting for them to go down.
But I like them, I like Aaron Brooks and Yao Ming and Coach Adelman. I don’t think they have much of a chance, but I’ll be rooting for them.

LAKERS!!
Because Celtics aren’t going to win. I was on the plane to Las Vegas when the final game ended last year and made the word ‘CELTICS’ out of the pretzels the flight attendant lady gave me cos I was so happy. Fun time. Voted
for Houston as they beat us and therefore would make our loss seem better, then for the Celtics since I hate Garnett so much and it would mean he isn’t that great (very unlikely though…) and then always for the oldest team to make room for our Blazers because if the Cavs start winning now, it’ll be even harder in the future for Portland…
Then if I wasn’t such a Blazers fundamentialist, my favourite team would be the Hawks, I really like them.

Dammit, I voted for the Cleveland Cavaliers thinking that this was a poll about who we expected to win ...
the 2009 NBA Finals.
Obviously, I don’t want the Cavaliers to win it all this season.
If I had my choice, though, then I’d recast my vote for the Dallas Mavericks. That core team of players there got screwed over in 2006, Jason Kidd deserves to go out on a high note, Mark Cuban is an owner who I respect greatly for his intense passion, and Jerry Stackhouse’s salary for next season would hilariously become fully guaranteed if the Mavericks bring the trophy home to Dallas.
Yeah, I’m now on the Mavericks bandwagon.
