I play Noon ball at The Hoop Mon, Wed, Fri. We get some good games down there and while the skill level is high, it also usually runs the gamut. We get some Div 1 college players, some euro semi-pro players, highschoolers, old crafty men, etc. There is room for anyone who knows the game. Anyway, if you are looking for some good pickup games, come on down, we usually have a full court running till about 1:30 to 2:00.

I think it’s $5 or $7 for noon ball.
We play in the mornings at The Hoop for free. Broyposse played with us today. If you want to run at 6 am let me know.

I’ve heard stories about this 6am game, but that’s really, really early in the morning.
I’ve got 3 guys that will play noon ball and I’ll try and make it to 6am ball, but no promises there. That’s usually when I’m between zzzzzzz and zzzzzzzz….

Yeah it is early, but the free part is nice. The guys who play are pretty cool too. In the summer it’s a little easier but I understand, waking up at 5:30 is tough.

We usually play from 6-7:30 because everyone works at 8. So that seems perfect for you if you work at 9, eh?

it $5 for a one-day pass
but only $30 for a month membership, so if you play 9-10 times a month, that’s the way to go. The Hoop also had a full gym upstairs with machines, free weights and treadmills, elliptical, etc. It’s a bargain.

I'm in Salem but I'm moving to Wilsonville for a summer job
I won’t be able to play league ball down here. But my allegiance still lies in Salem, so if you organize a rivalry game I’m down.
Also, other pickup games in or close to Salem:
Every night around 6:30 at Western Oregon (It’s open gym and you don’t have to be a student)
Thursday at 7PM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church
Monday and Wednesday 5:30 (I think, it could be 6:30, I haven’t been in a while) at Liberty Elementary
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 11:30 ish till about 2:00 in the Willamette University Gym
Those are the games that I try to hit depending on my schedule. I know it can be tough to work them in when you’re busy so I thought I’d list some other options for people.

but tuesday would might work. I’ll be preparing for my recital and finishing classes for a couple more weeks so i’ll be kind of busy, then I’ll me more open to ball.

I will be asking you guys were all the best open runs, scrimmages and busiest outdoor courts are and when to go so I can spend my entire week either watching the Blazers or playing basketball. I do not care how far I go, I will go there. It will be a pilgrimage for me.

Seem like a nice place to play ball, but 5 dollar a session is a lot for bringing your own ball.
I’d rather go to South West CC by Wilson high school. It’s way bigger and probably has better players.

I’d be soooo down for this. 5 on 5 Full court! Maybe in the summer if I make a trip up from LA. I’ve been playing in LA and most of the guys suck, not that I’m amazing. :D

Not exactly feeling in my own best shape, which is not good shape at its best…. but it really sounds fun…
since i don’t mind being the last kid standing against the wall, I won’t let a little things like ability or conditioning keep me out. Doubt I could even compete in either the toddler or geriatric leagues but i have a lot of heart..

If keys don't get returned
I have access to a School gym in Wilsonville, which would be perfectly placed for the Salem and Portland games. Just tell me when you want to do it and we can set it up. I would love to come and play this Friday but with a wife and 14 month old it is hard to get things done on such short notice.

I’d just like to point out that Broyposse is a perfect addition to our morning game, he’s the point guard we’ve been looking for. Solid handles, good shot, drives, all good. We even ran a perfect screen and roll today, love it.

Last Friday....
seemed to go well, at least for the “white” team. So is this going to translate into something bigger (Portland City League), or was it just a one-night stand?
Getting a team to play together before league play would be huge.
White’s run on Friday was pretty big. Hopefully next game we can get some 5 on5.
