More fun from Mr. Bill Simmons

I was reading his chat transcript from the other day, and a fan from Olympia asked him the following question:

"Matt (Olympia): Bill, What should the Blazers do to get themselves to the next level? They have something like 5 draft picks...can they package some of those to get a veteran? Who would you want to put with their core of BRoy, Aldridge and Oden(other than Durant)?"

Here was the Oden hater's response:

"Bill Simmons: I think their talent has been vastly overrated - they have 2 keepers (Roy and LA) and I'm not sold on anyone else on that roster except Rudy. Outlaw, Blake, Pryzbilla, Oden... these are all bench guys. I thought they made a serious mistake not using Raef's contract to get a blue-chipper this year. They look better on paper than they actually are... "

What does this guy have against the Blazers?

Can we institute a ban on anything Simmons related?

I read his NBA draft diary once a year and thats about it. The guy adds nothing substantial to Blazer conversation and only stokes the fire of troll bait.

I’m tired of seeing his name bandied about on Bedge like we are looking for his approval.

+1

and Sam Smith

Both guys just throw stuff up against a wall and figure if they throw a ton of stuff SOMETHING has to stick.

Yeah this was discussed in a fanshot before

Simmons no doubt logs onto BE every day to make sure he is being discussed. If he’s not, he throws Oden’s name into an article just to piss Blazer fans off and get more posts on this site.

Very tricky Mr. Simmons…

To answer your question though

Rudy: Rookie
Outlaw: We want to trade
Blake: We want to trade
Przybilla: Duh, we expect him to be a bench player
Oden: Rookie

Congrats Bill. You just called a bench player a bench player, made a conclusion on the careers of 2 guys who just got done being rookies, and dissed on 2 guys that we want to trade, both of whom WE say are bench players. We sure got told.

Who says we want to trade Blake??????

If we need him to get Kirk or something then yes, But I wouldnt mind him staying and being the best back up PG in the league (Like Joel will be the best back up Center)

"Sometimes I catch myself watching him and he's shooting floaters all-net. And just to watch how he's talking trash. I loved it. I loved every minute of it. Rudy's a competitor." - Brandon Roy

Okay

In that case Blake moves to the same category as Przybilla. Either way, Simmons is dissing on rookies and… bench players.

this is basically what I said in the fanshot on this topic

Simmons is calling out our bench players for being……bench players! Woe is me! We are so terrible!

No, I didn’t want Jefferson or Vinsanity, but RLEC was the golden ticket that blew away from Charlie on his way to Wonka’s factory

I miss the good ole days of Stephen A. Smith. You could always count on him for solid, candid basketball insight.

Just remember

He’s a fan, you guys. He isn’t an analyst. He doesn’t have access to behind the scenes information any more than we do. If some people were writing on Celtics Hub that they thought Greg was a bust, we wouldn’t take it seriously. Just take everything Simmons says with a major grain of salt and you’ll be fine.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
