Here is my mega 4-team blockbuster...it's pretty good...really!
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=oqg9yc
The trade involves the Blazers, Bulls, Jazz, and Nuggets.
Blazers get upgrades in Hinrich at PG and Balkman at Back-up PF.
Jazz improve at SF with Luol Deng and get Tyrus Thomas to back-up Millsap.
Bulls finally get a PF in Boozer, as well Blake to replace Hinrich and Webster to compete with Salmons.
Denver gets Sergio, and I’m sure we’d have to sweeten the deal with some draft picks.
This deal could change depending on what Boozer does as far as opting out, and whether or not the Nuggets would cooperate. Otherwise, I think it is a pretty fair deal for all teams involved, seems to meet their needs, and works salary-wise. I haven’t heard anybody mention Balkman as a potential back-up 4 for us, but I like his energy and his rebounding.
Can I buy you a fish sandwich?
Trade Thought
From Portland: Travis Outlaw + #32 pick to Toronto for Kris Humphries and #9
Why this works we get to move up in the draft to draft the best possible PG or PF, Toronto gets to save some money and get a nice replacement for Marion.
It seems that everyone's real problem is they just don't drink enough coffee. They lose their edge, lose track of their priorities, and end up sleeping a third of their life away.
I would feel bad for the team that gets Outlaw
as their replacement for Marion…

Really?
Marion is a ball hog and gets worse the longer he’s away from Nash.

I think Marion is just good enough
that even when he’s playing bad he’s still substantially better than Outlaw playing out of his mind.
by One Team to Rule Them All on May 22, 2009 12:19 PM PDT up reply actions
I'd rather Rudy, Batum, and Webster take Outlaw's minutes
And keep Outlaw on the bench, than have Marion on the team, no matter how easy it could be to get him.

yuck, I don't want him...
I was just saying the Outlaw going to Toronto as Marions replacement when he leaves would be crappy for Toronto.

How about Webster and Batum for Lou Williams?
The ESPN trade machine keeps sticking one me.
"Hey Beavis, let's rock!"
I know you're just joking.
But that trade still bothers me.

I hear ya
If you’re going to deal with the 76’ers, you should have them throw in Elton Brand as the back up banger.
"Hey Beavis, let's rock!"
Reggie Evans looks like a monster.
I mean that in a good way.

Ya... his PER is jacked because of his rebounding ability
He had the 6th highest offensive rebound rate and 4 highest overall rebound rate in the NBA (out of 329 players).
The Mike Conley Jr. Trade
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=rxwthf
Portland also gives up – #24 and $3 Million Cash
Portland Gets:
Mike Conley Jr.
Marko Jaric
Memphis Gets:
Steve Blake
Travis Outlaw
#24
$3 Million Cash
Reasoning for Memphis: Travis Outlaw to them represents a young power forward which is the biggest need on their team. This draft class doesn’t provide any answers at that position for where they’re looking to draft, so getting one that will fit into their free flowing offense is a nice coup, especially at his very reasonable price tag. Steve Blake represents the perfect compliment to Ricky Rubio, and will eventually be the teams seasoned vet backup point guard. In addition to that, Memphis gets pick #24 which they’ll look to pair with their own pick (#27) in hopes of trading back up into the lottery. Obviously getting the $3 million in cash is the reward you get for dealing with KP and company. This also trims Marko Jaric’s contract from their books (he’s still owed $20 million). In the event either Blake or Outlaw don’t work out, they’re both just signed for this season and will make nice hand me outs come the trade deadline, if the Grizzlies wish to add another player, or just want to sit out the contracts for the big free agent summer of 2010, where they could be buyers on Amare or Bosh. (Rubio, Mayo, Gay, Amare, Gasol) becomes a possibility.
Reasoning for Portland: Getting Mike Conley Jr, the future point guard for a possible dynasty without giving up any one of your nucleus of 7, represents the consolidation most of us speak of when talking about our almost overly deep team. Mike Conley Jr fits into this teams offense like a glove, easing the burden of Roy controlling the ball all of the time, while still being a significant threat on the outside with his 3 point shot. Unlike Blake he’s also able to penetrate the lane, and creates better passing lanes to both our bigs and back out to the perimeter for 3’s. The Oden connection can only be seen as a good thing, as I’m sure he’d be a happier more well adjusted player on the court. Losing Outlaw hurts, but Webster replaces his minutes off the bench at the 3 this year anyway. Pick #24 wasn’t likely to be a player that saw the court this year anyway, and Portland maintains its cap space to sign the Free Agent banger they so choose.
I like it
How about 3 mil. and the #24 to move up to around #18 first. #18 would be more attractive and still not give up anyone.
That move didn't jive with the trade checker
The reason I included Marko was that he was owed 20 million over the next 3 years as opposed to Darko who is owed 14 million over the next 2 years. I’m assuming they’d prefer getting rid of the extra 6 million that last year. The difference in what they’re owed this year (1 million) was the reason it doesn’t check out in the trade checker. Its quite possible considering the new cap number that we’d be able to just add Darko into the deal anyway, sweetening the deal even further for them. I like the guy as a tough big off the bench too, so long as he isn’t the only big we add this offseason.
I think he'd be fine as the only big added
He can play both big man spots, and add the toughness and rebounding we crave in our loins.
He’d be the back up banger who rebounds, like we all always talk about.
What other kind of big would ya like? A more pure PF?
Mortimer
I kind of want one that can hit a mid range shot
If this trade went down, Outlaw would be gone, meaning our only other potential 4 would be Freeland, whom I hear also doesn’t have the mid range down. It would make it really hard on our second unit perimeter players if they have to come up with the full brunt of the scoring load, as Joel and Darko presumably aren’t going to have their players hardly even having to pay attention to them.
That is what all the hubbub about Antonio McDyess and Brandon Bass is all about. Both excel at with their mid range game, provide very solid defense and can board. I like Darko, but without Travis on the team, you’re hurting presumably second unit guys like Webster, Rudy and perhaps Bayless.
So, is it safe to assume, that there are only two available point guards this off season?
Seems like Kidd and Nash are out and the only other point guards in the league that might be traded are Conley and Hinrich.
"Hey Beavis, let's rock!"
There's only 6 point guards left in the NBA
The 4 you mention, and Deron and CP3.
Are you suggesting we could trade for CP3 or Deron?!?! I won’t believe it until I see a ESPN tradechecker link.

They love him too much
Most fans consider him the best player/scorer, even over Iguodala.
Let’s hope the 76ers owner goes bankrupt so we can steal Iggy’s big contract for peanuts. CASHEWS, even!

that doesn't work...

How come Iggy can play SF full time, but Roy can't?
Iguodala: 6-6, 207
Roy: 6-6, 211
Is he a better defender? What gives?

by Nick Van Excellent on May 22, 2009 2:19 PM PDT up reply actions
Yeah, he's a lot better defender
Looks stronger to me, but I can’t say for sure. He is more athletic than Roy, probably longer too…
He can’t shoot, but he can create and defend. I like him as a second fiddle.
’orty
Roy can play SF...
Don’t let people tell you any different. Look at his stats defensively versus 3’s this year. He’s allows half as much to that position than he does to 2’s.
That said, Iggy is the second best perimeter defender in the entire NBA. They both are perfectly capable of being 3’s. The thing is, people here don’t even want to allow Roy to play the 3 for 16 minutes a game, let alone full time. I think it’s pretty obvious that would give us the best chance to win (allowing Rudy to be a 2 for 30 minutes per game).
Those stats aren't fair.
Roy is obviously playing SF more when the guy he’s defending is less of a scoring threat. For example, he’s not playing the 3 when Lebron is playing the 3, but he does play the 2 when Kobe is playing the 2. I would expect him to allow less points at that SF position. They only stick him there when he’s not going to be a defensive liability.
I think maybe he could play that position more, but I have yet to see stats that could back it up.

Remember: Donald Sterling is the STINGIEST owner in the NBA
First overall picks don’t come cheap, and Donal Sterling is cheaper than a peep.
Preliminary: Rubio’s agent announces publicly that no way José will Rubio come outt of Spain to play for a team located in Oklahoma — DONE.
Preliminary: David Stern tells Donald Sterling that the NBA really, really, really wants an international star like Rubio to play in a premier market like LA. Done?
Trade: the Clippers send their #1 pick to OKC for the #3 pick and $2,000,000. Clips get cash, and KC lets Blake Griffin stay home in Sooner Country.
Draft: 1. Griffin to OKC
2. Thabeet to Memphis
3. Rubio to the Clips
Trade: Portland sends Rodrigues and the rights to Joel Freeland to the Clips along with $3,000,000 for Sterling’s walkin’round money for the rights to the as-yet unsigned Rubio.
Clips end up with $5,000,000, Rodrigues, and Freeland; Portland ends up with Rubio.
It makes sense until
Portland gets involved
Sorry dude, but this does not pass the laugh test.
Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.
oh. my. goodness.
How does one respond when one has labored specifically to contrive a joke, and the response is, “this does not pass the laugh test”? Does one feel inadequate for having failed to make a joke good enough to make the other laugh? Or does one feel the urge to explain the joke to someone who obviously missed it? Hint: the giveaway clue was the inclusion in the scenario of the rights to Joel Freeland. Serious trades to get high draft assets do not include unsigned foreign players who are unknown outside of Blazer fansites.
Ok.: here’s the deal. Dave or Ben or Ben or Dave urged everybody who wanted to propose a trade to keep it within the collective bargaining agreement rules. Within that guideline, the consensus is that the Blazers should (a) SOMEHOW end up with Ricky Rubio, and (b) not give up any players curently on the roster other than those who would be “gone anyway.”
The structure of the plan, then, was to construct a bloodless trade, where (except for Sergio) no actual players or salaries are involved; only (1) rights to draft, (2) rights to sign, and (3) cash would change hands, making the deal antiseptically sterile under the CBA. What would make it work is Donald Sterling’s stinginess. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4187729 I mean, here is a team owner who seriously asked his General Manager (Paul Silas) to double up as an assistant trainer and tape the players’ ankles before games so that he could avoid paying an assistant trainer’s salary.
Unfortunately, because the scenario I constructed had David Stern wanting an international player who speaks Spanish to end up in Southern California, it was necessary to include Sergio in the proposed trade for the rights to sign Rubio; Sergio is a “gone anyway” asset, but, as an actual player with an actual salary, would probably bust the trade under the CBA, anyway.
Do we have permission to laugh now?

He isn't THAT cheap anymo'
He pays for Camby, Kaman, Baron, Z-Bo— all guys making immense amounts of money.
He had been cheap in the past, but since they won a monstrous 48 games (the 1,000,764th best record in NBA history) and went to the 2nd round, the owner committed to spending big bucks. They got a huge payroll now.
Something as “expensive” but worth more than what you pay like a #1 pick won’t get penny pinched right now… even though Sterling is hurting in the real estate market, which is where he gets his money.
I love the end goal, but I have to hedge my bets and say it isn’t likely.
Mortimer
Why not figure out how we can trade
Memphis to get Rubio. For instance securing Sac-town’s pick and trading that plus Outlaw and cash etc. to get Rubio. It sounds sadly like Rubio might be more attainable then Mike Conley Jr. If Rubio is available I say get it done and get it done NOW.
No Roy/LMA/Oden/Rudy/Batum but everyone else is available even Przy for Rubio. Rather not trade Pryz but the idea of this line up makes me drool
PG: Rubio
SG: Roy
SF: Batum
PF: LMA
C: Oden.
That’s a championship team and soon.

If CP3 could be had as Bill Simmons is suggesting....
What are you willing to give up for him?
If you ask me, anyone not named Brandon Roy is on the table in a trade deal like that. It just has to be something that’s going to save the Hornets a ton of money in the next couple years.
Yes! Yes! In the face!
who did we get when we traded Timbo
over to SS&R?

Gotta keep Oden
he’s too undervalued and as a throw in I just can’t see it. LMA + Rudy + Przybilla + Bayless + Sergio + Blake+ taking all bad contracts + picks + cash and a ressurected with bird-rights RLEC and whatever else we can throw at them. Me thinks you gotta keep Oden though.

yep, wait no
even if he didn’t blow ppl away this year Oden still has way to much potential to be traded at this point… but at the same time Paul is already the best PG in the league… so um… well I guess I would trade him
by One Team to Rule Them All on May 22, 2009 12:34 PM PDT up reply actions
If you can get CP3 without trading Roy or LA
Then I don’t see how you don’t do it. Oden may very well turn out to be an outstanding center and one of the best in the league, but it’s not guaranteed.
Paul is almost certainly going to be one of the best point guards in the league for years to come. He’s proven and if you put him on the team now, it becomes a title contender immediately.
Yes! Yes! In the face!
Who plays power forward then?
You keep the big three and then tell them they can have any combination of players after that. If it takes one of the big three to get Chris Paul, then I wouldn’t do it simply because there is a cheaper point guard out there that could win championships with the big three.
