Joel Przybilla
Easily deserved and hopefully self-explanatory.
Even with all his foul troubles and his slow feet, Greg’s in second place.
Batum’s third. He’s got so much promise.
Joel
I aggree with both Toby and Timmay. Joel was our core night in and night out, consistent, tough, and out last line of defense.
Nic was our best wing defender, able to defend three positions, and an amazing surprise.
Greg is a real presence in the middle when he gets to really play. He can grab offensive rebounds with one hand while holdin off the opposing five with the other. And shows potential as a passer. On future nights when he manages to pass the ball out for assists, he should flirt with triple doubles, because he will automatically get double doubles.
Travis Outlaw
is not the winner. I’ll give it to Joel.
"There are a few teams you have to watch out for in the fourth quarter."
"Yeah, but Portland definitely is not one of them."
-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters at the end of the third quarter with the Hornets leading 74-59. Portland later ends up winning 97-89.
"They don't mind him shooting that shot at all. Rudy Fernandez is not that great of a 3pt shooter."
-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters right after a Rudy Fernandez missed 3pter. Rudy Fernandez finished the game with three 3pters on six attempts.

Showing GO what it means to be a pro. All the blocks, all the rebounds, putting his body on people are just icing.
Joel
This one is pretty obvious. His rebounding and paint control were key.

The Kings have the best bench I’ve seen. There are easily 14 guys on this team good enough for every bench in the league. Now if we could only get some starters, I’d totally jizz in my pants.

Joel
Batum had some highlights, but Joel was consistent, didn’t take crap from anyone, and was huge given Oden’s struggles.
Joel Pryzbilla
As you said in your reier of the coaching staff, none of our perimeter guys were terrific on-ball defenders. joels presence in the paint and defensie rebounding were critical to our success this year
Pryzbilla
He made up for a lot of other players mistakes, and anchored a solid defense.
Batum
Always willing to do the hardest job

Nic
Joel is the obvious choice but Nic’s ethereal ability to keep the other teams best player away from Joel allowed Joel to stay in the game and out of foul trouble.
The Thrilla Przybilla
"I've learned one thing, and that's to quit worrying about stupid things. You have four years to be irresponsible here. Relax. Work is for people with jobs. You'll never remember class time, but you'll remember time you wasted hanging out with your friends. So, stay out late. Go out on a Tuesday with your friends when you have a paper due Wednesday. Spend money you don't have. Drink 'till sunrise. The work never ends, but college does" - Tom Petty
Ghostface P.
Nic was good, but Joel was the defensive anchor for this team. Przybilla had one of the best defensive seasons by a Blazer this decade.
Yes! Yes! In the face!
Joel
if brandon roy played for toronto he'd be brandon waaaaah
Joel
wins fairly easily here. Still, gotta give a nod to young Nic Batum. It’s just that Joel’s defense changes the whole offensive strategy of Blazer opponents whereas Nic’s coverage mainly helps to erase the offensive contribution of one player.
Joel Przybilla
Our anchor in the middle……… ’nuff said
"Sometimes I catch myself watching him and he's shooting floaters all-net. And just to watch how he's talking trash. I loved it. I loved every minute of it. Rudy's a competitor." - Brandon Roy
Pryzbilla
Best Defensive center in the league not named Dwight Howard.
"The problem with tweeners is that sometimes they’re exactly what you need to plug the hole and sometimes they are the hole."

Oden
His per was rediculous. Joel was challenged more then Oden was he just changes the game when he is in the line up.
I try to help with everything," Fernandez said. "If the coach says go rebound, I go rebound. I work for the team.
""If I'm playing this game to get media and attention, I shouldn't be here," Aldridge said. "I'm here to play basketball, and do what I can do to help this team win."
His stare became blank. It was apparent he was back in that place, on the Rose Garden's logo, picking up Aaron Brooks as the crowd nervously roared.
Joel
Nic was a close second just because he was given the toughest scorer every night.
nic
in the games against LA in the RG, he played AMAZING D against K*be
bayless leaves over my dead body
Joel
Although in the coming years, I think this team will develop into a nice defensive team with Joel, Greg, LA, Nic and Brandon.
Joel Przybilla
The vanilla gorilla thrilla, no doubt in my mind here.
Joel Pryzbilla
What a fantastic season from Joel. And he did the majority of his best work on the defensive end. A no-brainer.
Hi, I'm Paul Thompson, and I'm a quack-aholic.
And it's a clean sweep for....
Joel “The Thrilla/Vanilla Gorilla/Ghostfaced Killa” Pryzbilla!
Blazers win!
Joel Pryzbilla
Nice work all year, stayed healthy and brought it every night.
And here’s a finger in the eye to everyone who said Oden would start right away and we should trade Joel immediately after we drafted Greg.
Joel
props to Nic, but he just didn’t play enough to have the impact Joel did. Pryz is the defensive shizzz

without a doubt. Seeing the stat where he grabs 1/3rd of all defensive rebounds available blows my mind!

No one is even close. Although the young one Batum could get there

Pryzbilla
Batman is close, and Oden will be there soon. I have a feeling it’ll be a three-way battle between those gentlemen for this award next year.

Joel Przybilla
Oden and Batum get honorable mention. Joel is the defensive signal caller and the last line of defense before the bad guys get to the rim. Next season, Greg prys this award out of Joel’s fingers. – Elgin
VENTURA: It's drowning. It gives you the complete sensation that you are drowning. It is no good, because you -- I'll put it to you this way, you give me a waterboard, Dick Cheney and one hour, and I'll have him confess to the Sharon Tate murders.
Joel Przybilla
2nd place to Batum, and he was waaaay back in 2nd behind Joel!
I like the whole team.
i came here to cast my vote for...
…przybilla, but i see he doesn’t really need my vote.
so, i’ll give it to martell webster instead. can’t wait to see him back next season!
Well I'm a follower and the popular opinion seems to be one J. Przybilla
He anchored our defense, chewed out the perimeter D at times, and was an overall leader on that end of the floor. My wife has a crush on him now as a result of all of the confrontations he had during the season, sticking up for our “soft” team.
My expectation were a little out of whack and I expected Greg to actually win this award when the season started, but I see enough potential there that I’m not sweating it (that New Orleans block shortly after he came back the first time? awesome!). Speaking of expectations, I was totally surprised to see Nic perform as well as he did for a rookie and also see that he has room for improvement, which makes me even more optimistic about the future.
SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES. NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS.
Joel has owned the defense of this team for the last two years
his d is key to this team.. it alone makes him a strong consideration for mvp not named roy too.. he was crucial to this team’s success
"Slum dunk? You just go to the rim, and crush.. crush the ball in the rim."

Joel Pryzbilla
I’m curious to see if Batum or Oden ends up in this spot in 3-5 years. If it’s Oden, that would be a good sign for the franchise IMHO, because Batum will definitely be an even better defender than he is now.

Joel-
Not only did he defend his man well and rebound, but he also covered for all of the “OLE!” calls from the guards.

Joel
with Greg as his backup Joel was a monster. The tandem is what made both better – that and practicing against each other.
"What's so interesting is that this team took on a dynamic that was very special. I don't think we as a group, in terms of management, coaches and players, realize what we did as a young team. We broke all the metrics. We broke all the molds. Our challenge is can we continue to do that. As young of a team with 54 wins, no issues off the court, phenomenal chemistry." - Kevin Pritchard
Joel
but I’m hope it’s nic in the next few years as he grows more use to the nba
BATUM!
He was our best perimeter defender by far, and he did it as a rookie.
Joel is awesome, but he has always been awesome, Batum was a suprise
Go M's
Gotta be...
