Ford has us taking Darren Collison, which I find interesting. As much as I hate UCLA, Collison is solid and most of all he can play defense.

i really think that collison

is this years aaron brooks. A very quick true pg that has matured his game in college and will be taken in the late first round. the only difference is that brooks was a better shooter coming out of college and collison is a better defender.

Collison is nowhere near the offensive threat Brooks is.

But he’s definitely a better defender. He’s got good lateral movement and good quickness, though again he doesn’t have the quickness that Brooks has.

It wouldn’t be my absolute first choice, but Collison is an intriguing prospect. I think he fits better into what the Blazers want to do than Bayless does.

But I’d be willing to bet quite a bit that Portland won’t be picking at 24.

Brooks was a major offensive player in college...

Collison has never had those games where he really blew up offensively. Collison is a mature PG, though, so he has a better chance at “translating” his game quicker to the NBA.

Brooks is not a ture PG

more of a combo gaurd… or ascoring gaurd stuck in a PG’s body.

Once again Chad Ford is wrong

Has anyone from ESPN ever made a correct prediction? Did you see how fast they took down their NFL draft predictions after the NFL draft?

yeah, I love that all these news outlets try to make their mock unique. Everyone knows that it is Griffin and Rubio in the top two.. Ford is trying to be controversial to get more traffic.

Rec

The #1 and the #2 picks are set in stone. The Memphis Miles should pick Rubio and then trade him for Thabeet and whatnot.

Nah

I was just changing it every now and then until someone asked me about it. I’ll come up with a new one now.

Memphis loves Thabeet?

What’s wrong with Marc Gasol? Is one of them supposed to play PF?

by meru on May 20, 2009 7:25 AM PDT reply actions

He even makes sure to cover himself

If the Grizzlies take Rubio, Oklahoma City will have a tough choice between Thabeet and James Harden.

by Zaig on May 20, 2009 8:55 AM PDT reply actions

This mock draft is nowhere near as bad as what Doug Gottlieb's

The best part of his lottery mock draft was Oklahoma City picking……I’m not kidding……Jrue Holiday with the 3rd pick.

Yes! Just what OKC needs!!! Another undersized shooting guard! Maybe they could trade up with their other first round pick so they can get Stephon Curry also!

Yes! Yes! In the face!

I posted this in another thread so don't read it if you already have

seems odd that Ford has Memphis taking Thabeet. Seems like they should take the best talent available. I think Marc Gasol is a legit center. I don’t get how people can knock Marc while talking up Pau so much when their games are so similar…. granted Marc is fatter. I really hope the Grizz take Rubio because then it would seem inevitable that they would deal Conley (possibly to the Blazers). Although then again I hear the Clippers might want Rubio and I wouldn’t put it past them to pass on a somewhat sure thing like Griffin. If the Clippers don’t take Griffin watch out for Memphis. Conley, Mayo, Gay, Griffin and Gasol… that will be scary good in 2 or 3 years.

In the limited time I saw Gasol

I was very impressed by his effectiveness despite his low neck to booty ratio

I just dont get why they would pass on Rubio since at best they seem lukewarm on Conley

Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.

agreed...

I thought Marc looked just as good as Pau in the Olympics. Maybe I am crazy though. Someone suggested that Memphis is playing it off like they will take Thabeet so that they don’t hurt Conley’s trade value.

by Escrote on May 20, 2009 10:16 AM PDT up reply actions

that is probably a good move

I guess the question becomes: If they grab Rubio what does it take from the Blazers to get Conley?

Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.

by jonestr on May 20, 2009 10:29 AM PDT up reply actions

for sure

I just dont know if that is enough for them. It would give them some depth, but not help them in the toughness department, which I think is something they would like to address. Who knows though, that team is a mess and seems to lack front office direction.

Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.

I don't think we can help them in that department

We’ll see. We will all spend the next month speculating and then KP will come out of left field and do something no one saw coming.

Nick Calathes brings something to the table.

He might have the height to be able to defend a taller man off a screen. We switch often. He is a good ball handler and can set the pace of the game. He can get into the paint without being in a hurry. A very good passer who is not afraid of the pick and roll. Good Basketball IQ and a good leader. He might be the pg we are looking for to offset Steve’s steady game.

I could be wrong now. But I don't think so!

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside.
