Interest in Nash, or speculation
Marc Stein is claiming that Portland is considering a trade for Steve Nash and that we would be the front runners with Outlaw and Bayless in return. (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=stein_marc&page=Chatter-090518)
Nash is a spectacular player, but he hasn't exactly helped other teams reach the promised land. With his suspect defense, back problems and advanced age, could the Blazers really be looking at him, or is someone just trying to stir the pot.
I've loved his game since seeing him battle Dionn Holton at the Chiles Center many years ago. However, I can't see him helping build Portland into a contender and I hope they stay away.

I like the idea
I’d want to keep Blake though, and really keep Nash’s minutes down. – Elgin

does that mean we keep Sergio?
I say swap Sergio for Bayless, unless they decide to groom Sergio under Nash, which I wouldnt hate.

Possible Sergio would still be involved in a different trade.
Something tells me he wouldn’t be happy/useful being behind both Nash and Blake.

Sergio needs to wakeup
he is not a starter nor do I think he ever will be for that long a period of time
It seems that everyone's real problem is they just don't drink enough coffee. They lose their edge, lose track of their priorities, and end up sleeping a third of their life away.

i'd prefer bibby
he is in better health, plays better D, and no need to loose bayless
bayless leaves over my dead body

did you just say Bibby and D?
I think it’s more along the lines of, “Nash sucks more on D” rather than “Bibby is better on D”.

I like it too
His contract isn’t bad at all, and he could definitely put the Blazers over the top next year. Would he want to play in Nate’s system is the question.

It just looks like speculation that will never turn into reality to me.
The Blazers seem to be in every trade rumor for a big name PG or SF.

Too old, no D, humongo contract.
I don’t want him.

I don't think Nash's style fits with the rest of the Blazers starters
I don’t know if I would call Blake a (very) poor man’s Nash, but they do bring a lot of the same skills without balancing out their weaknesses. It’s also a short term fix while at the same time giving up a potential future starter. His age and contract are also issues.
On the other side, a Nash-Blake PG rotation would be quite good and Nash wouldn’t have to play too many minutes with Blake backing him up. I think I prefer the Hinrich scenario to this one.

No
Too old,too expensive and would hate Nate ball but most of all we need to put Roy between Batum and a PG who cam play above average,as opposed to nonexistent, defense

nash
as much as i love him,he’s too damn old and a seriousdefensive liability.like i’ved been preaching lately, nate should put his foot down, and make this team a defensive dynamo.the sooner this young team becomes all defensive, the quicker you good [eople can see the dada=the trophy.

I'd like to see a lockdown defender at that position too
I wonder who that would be? – Elgin

OLD, NO D, HUGE CONTRACT
My problem with Nash (I love his game) is that our team is built for a title run for the next 4-5 years…and Nash has maybe 1-2 good years left. I don’t see those two timelines as compatible, with Nash probably being done right when Roy, Aldridge, Oden etc. are at or are entering their peak.
THE BETTER PLAN – trade Sergio and Outlaw for another stud or to move up in the draft, draft one of the top PGs in this years draft (Lawson, Collison, Flyyn) and groom him behind Blake for a year. I like Bayless but he’s a combo guard not a PG, and I think we drafted him for value not need. Then we have a young stud at PG that will be ready in 1 or 2 years (depending on the player), which will be right when we’re making our title push

We didnt draft Bayless
We drafted Brandon Rush and traded him for Bayless. There must be something about him they like. I think the Nash idea will work but they are going to need to give up Bayless. Jerryd would play really well in there uptempo style and thats probably why they want him

KP needs to get the deal done NOW
Bayless, Rudy, Outlaw, Batum, Blake, Webster, and just about everyone should be made available to get him on the Blazers.

Whether or not we want him
I can’t see Phoenix wanting to get rid of him as long as they are keeping Amare. The two of they play so well together that bringing Amare back doesn’t really make sense without Nash.
On the other hand, if Shaq is still going to be around, he and Nash aren’t a great fit. Nash needs a center who can move on the pick-and-roll and not someone who clogs up the paint.

Product of The Run and Gun
Does anyone really think he would have two, or even one, MVP if he hadn’t been in D’Antoni’s offense? His assist totals can be tantilizing, but look at the rest of him. He is old and can’t play D. I trust KP not to do this one.

I think Nash would be cool
The problem is that he’s a tweener. He’s half old vet and half superstar. Both those roles clash.
