Carl Landry; Backup PF?

I remember him playing quite well against Oden & the Buckeyes in the Big 10 Tournament. He has really impressed me in the playoffs as well. Backup PF? Thoughts?

If not

If we don’t have the backup PF situation solved by 2010, we should look at Landry. Luis Scola will also be a RFA that year. Then again, they will have the beef to match our offer most likely. McGrady & Yao are UFA that year.

According to Rotoworld

http://www.rotoworld.com/CONTENT/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=nBa&id=1407

He is making under 800k & is a team option for 08/09. Which they accepted. Doesn’t that mean he is a FA now?

If he is still signed… Will you swap Frye with Landry? Please .(Joke, but I wish)

I would really love him playing 20mpg for the next 5 years here behind LA

I've been really impressed with Gortat

I think he can start at C for some teams. I don’t think he’s a fit in Portland at all.

G13 is a baller

he has more offensive game than D12

he is very much a center

but it would be cool to have the polish hammer, he’s a funny dude. did anyone else see the clip of him trying to sell tickets?(i would link it but i can’t find it)

Interesting sidenote about Borat

umm . . . I mean from the Gortat part of the article:

“Suns fans might not want to read this sentence, but Gortat—just like Rajon Rondo, Rudy Fernandez, and Nate Robinson—was originally drafted by Phoenix before subsequently being traded to another team without ever playing a game for the Suns.”

I forget how many short-sighted moves the Suns management has made. They would have no “future” issue with those guys around.

Back on topic, I don’t think we can afford to sign guys like Landry or Gortat to be back-ups. They will command too much $$ and be unhappy playing backup minutes (what’s left after LA plays 40 a game). Bass maybe.

put a body on 'em

We should trade our pick to the suns

let them draft with it, then take it back via trade for 2nd round picks and cash .. Seems like their scouts know what they are doing in the late 1st huh.

I like Dave's idea better...

Dave suggested going after Dejuan Blair in this years draft.

Dejuan fits that “quality banger inside who can provide solid minutes to a competitive half-court team”.
Blair would provide that hustle, strength and toughness needed as a backup PF.

Dave pointed that out

and also implied that a trade could bring us the pick that could grab him.

Keep in mind that DeJuan was:
the best offensive rebounder in the last eight or nine years of college basketball and

the best offensive rebounder in college basketball this year.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
