Too much one-on-one
DISCLAIMER #1: The title of the article is "Too much one-on-one", but it is actually complimentary in a way: it talks about the effectiveness of isolation plays by various elite guards in the NBA.
DISCLAIMER #2: I poached this article from blogabull, so it is highly bulls centric.

If you get the chance
and have not seen much of it, I would recommend watching some of the Spanish ACB playoffs that animart1 is doing such a great job helping us watch.
I don’t know if the stats would uphold this view, but it seems they do a lot more assisting, moving, and complex passing. They are less focused on stars going Iso. Now I appreciate the amazing skill of some NBA players, and that sometimes that is the best option, but I think the perfect thing would be a blend of the two styles. It’s very fun to watch these playoffs.
I think its more just developing an instinct for making passes that are not part of the set play, perhaps it’s broken down, and being ready for these passes. Moving to be available for a pass that unexpected. This is probably what we will see as euro and american basketball become more mixed, and I am looking forward to it.

hey I wholly agree about the beauty of off-ball movement
the point of this was to look at Roy’s numbers in comparison to the rest of the league’s top guys. If you break down his iso usage vs effectiveness numbers, he is among the top two or three isolation threats in the league right now. Only DWade, Dwill and (lol) Steve Nash (who has the best percentage) are more effective than BRoy in isolation. But Roy uses iso a lot more then they do.
Anyway, it was to show that Roy might be the best player in the league at using the iso.

If Artest can say it, so can I. Broy>Kobe.

Of course, sorry I went a bit off topic on that,
It is amazing how good Roy is, and I love this and also his Clutch stats. It’s true you can’t underestimate the value of having a guy like that. When all else fails, or when you really need a bucket, its like having the ultimate weapon.
I think its hard for people to grasp how good Roy actually is, because he is not as flashy, didn’t have the hype, and was not expected to be so great compared to other players.
Stuff like this helps people realize how great he is becoming. I think everyone is starting to come around, how could they not? To me it’s mindblowing that this is only his 3rd year and yet he sports the R.O.Y., the all star selections, the all nba team, the MJ award… the improvements his team has made. In such a short period of time he has done so much, and with stats like this, it’s about time he get his notice!
