Article that articulates exactly why I hate Kobe
This article summarizes what drives me nuts about the guy and why, against recent, high-profile consensus, I would never him want him in a Blazers jersey.

Kobe is the best though
He’s won like 12 league MVPs and about 6 NBA finals MVPs. He’s also outscored everybody else who has been in the league an equal time that he has. Why can’t be act like this?

Perfect article
Joyless. No fun to watch. Smug. Fake tough guy. Insecure.
Phenomenal player, but impossible to like or root for.

I think you nailed it....Insecurity
Its strange that a guy so talented is so visibly insecure.
I didn't mean to turn you on

My friends tell me I am hard to hate
Does that make me the anti-Kobe?

I'm pretty sure
the “he can’t guard me” moment happened in Game 2 (same game D-Fish laid the shoulder on Scola).
Regardless, I agree 100%.

One guy commented that MJ was the same way.
I never really saw him that much, or I don’t really remember. I was young at the time , but I never thought MJ looked like he would be a really nice or fun guy to hang out with. But I have no Idea if thats true.
Good article, really puts into words how it seems a lot of people feel. Rings true to me.

Yes, I'd like to see someone explain the difference between MJ and Kobe in this regard
I just don’t see a difference in their taunting.

MJ taunted guys like John Starks
Kobe taunts guys like Shane Battier.

Hard to take with his Doug Collins reference, and really just one negative comment repeated and expanded
Doug even? He is a superstar behind-puckering machine.
There are alot more reasons to hate on K*be.

I wonder if it was because he was an out of high school draft choice...
Yo know, never really developed the security of playing well in college, having the weight of the world thrust onto his shoulders while so young, or at least him perceiving them to be. He feels like he HAS to be that way.
Then again, that doesn’t tell the whole story. LeBron pretty much had the exact same situation as Kobe did in that respect, perhaps even more pressure since the Cavs were in a MUCH worse spot than the lakers were when Kobe was drafted.

Guess what?
You always appeal to your demographic, this is true with any news or television we are exposed to. We all know where Kobe plays, is this really that surprising to any of us?

I've tried to root for Kobe at times.
I just can’t do it. He is just not likable to me.
There was a time I hated MJ because he always beat my Pistons, but I never disliked him. MJ had an air about him. When MJ came back from retirement it was easy to root for him as a great player and a person.
I think Kobe is a great player and I will keep giving him a chance because I like great basketball and respect skills. However it is hard for me to see myself ever turning that corner fully and being able to root for him.
I’ll keep trying though. Maybe one day, if he is ever the underdog.

Kobe is an amazing player and competitor...
that being said, I agree with the author. He is SO contrived and not at all himself. I liked the analogy the author made about being an actor playing a part that doesn’t fit him at all. Reeks of insecurity.
