Paul Allen to sell KXL-AM and KXTG-FM (The Game)
Didn't see this reported anywhere else, but Paul Allen is selling his two Portland-area radio properties--KXL NewsRadio 750 AM, and KTXG 95.5 FM, aka The Game, to radio mogul Larry Wilson.
As part of the deal, The Game will continue to serve as the flagship station of the Blazer Broadcasting network for at least the next 8 years; at which point (I imagine) the Blazers will be free to shop around should they choose. Wilson indicates that he has no plans to alter the format or programming of either station.
I don't really have any opinion--unless the Blazers are on, I don't listen to either station. It is nice that the station (and its non-Blazer Broadcasting programming) will have a bit more editorial independence from the team, I suppose--but then again, I don't listen to said programming.

Internet killed the radio star....
The only use for talk radio, in my opinion, is a long drive somewhere—and even then I would ten times out of ten rather listen to some music; not to some idiot blather.
Actually, I’m glad to see Allen divest himself of that right-wing sewer that is KXL. I remember back when 750 was a respectable news station… :(
(And before anybody complains—I’m not objecting to conservative politics per se; I’m objecting to blatant bigots like Michael Savage and his ilk.)
I have not yet begun to defile myself.

I agree
The talk shows on KXL actually reflect many of my political views but Michael Savage is a freak. Any points that I even start to agree with quickly get lost in the next mound of trash out of his mouth.

Used to listen to Savage...
until he started advocating nuclear attacks on the middle east and surrounding countries.
The interesting bit of information that most people don’t know is that Michael Savage isn’t actually the Michael Savage that started that show. He’s a replacement that assumed the name when the original guy had to leave suddenly. He’s pretty much nothing he portrays.

What?
There’s just one Michael “Savage” Weiner, who’s nationally syndicated by Talk Radio Network.
Regardless, Weiner is a tool who’s managed to market himself successfully to his doltish fan base of far-right, ultraconservative wingnuts. Heck, followers of The Savage Nation make The Rush Limbaugh Program — which is nationally syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks — and its so-called “dittoheads” seem tame in comparison.
Then again, I’m a self-professed libertarian minarchist — for I’m a fiscal conservative, a social liberal, and a staunch non-interventionist apropos of foreign policy — therefore, I’m somewhat biased in this case.

Blazer broadcasts
This could have interesting implications for the Blazers on the radio. When Allen owned KXL/KXTG, there was no use negotiating for the games, but now that he’s out of that business we could see a bidding war the next time the Blazers rights come up
I believe in Greg Oden. To all the haters - get down with the program or stay off the wagon for all time. #52

That's 8 years from now
As part of the deal, the Blazers are signed to an 8 year deal on The Game.

So crapcast can come in and move The Game to
some remote tower and restrict access from anyone without comcast cable at their house??
Just you wait.

Now that is funny!
the evil comcast strikes again.
I think this will be good for the team and the fans. Although the guys on The Fan are pretty straight up when it comes to talking about the Blazers.
Killer instinct. When you have your opponent down, you do not help them up. You step on their throat!!!!!!
