With the season now over, it's time for Kevin Pritchard to warm up his thumbs, drink some tea, have 5 Blackberry chargers available and start his season...the Offseason. This summer is going to be great, I trust KP, he saw the areas that we were exposed at in the Playoffs and I expect some key acquisitions and upgrades.
Goodbye:
Raef: 12.8 mill
Ruffin: 1 Million in cash to Blazers plus 3 million trade exception
Shavlick: Nothing owed contract up
Please leave now:
Sergio: 4 mill over two years
Trading Block:
**This doesn't mean I want all these players traded but they are trade bait that can be used to UPGRADE the team and yes we could use an upgrade from these guys particularly in the Point Guard category.**
Channing Frye: 4.3 mill one year and expiring contract after next season
Travis Outlaw: 3.6 09-10 Contract (not guaranteed) expiring contract
Steve Blake: 4 mill 09-10 Contract (not guaranteed) expiring contract
Re-sign:
Rudy Fernandez: Expiring Contract
Free Agents worth taking a look at:
Veteran Point Guards: Andre Miller, Bobby Jackson, Mike Bibby
Young Point Guards: Ray Felton, Jarret Jack, Romone Sessions (sweet), Nate Rob
Forwards off the bench: Leon Powe, Birdman (yes), Brandon Bass, Milsap, David Lee
***Don’t forget the Pritchard trigger finger is ready to trade as well***

You'll love the Birdman the first time he blocks Kobe's shot for us.

Birdman
is like a Lambeer, Portland fans hated him but he was a baller, a lot of fans around the league I’m sure hate Billa but he is a baller. There are always players you hate but once you have them on your team you love them. J Noah would be on the list…..

I love his game
hate his personality and appearance. i usually don’t care how a guy looks, but he is the exception.

fo sho. I LOVE birdman's game. I don't see why he is so hated. He has a great redemption story too.

I think he is hated because he is a jerk.
He taunts unnecessarily….swiping his hair after he fouled Rudy with a swipe across Rudy’s head…he may have stopped using hard drugs but the rehab part is questionable. He’s a bad choice for a team that wanted to get rid of the “Jail Blazers” image.

He's a jerk because he smoothed his hair feathers?
I’d say yours are too-easily ruffled. I thought that was subtle, original, and funny, even if he did it after blocking one of our guys. Meanwhile, you have no problem when Brandon makes a game-winning shot and lifts his shirt? Or Greg slams LeBron aside as he moves past him?
You say the Birdman’s rehab is questionable? I question that questionable statement. If you know he’s doing drugs, either provide the evidence or retract your slander.

A few mistakes that you based your groups on
First, contracts that are coming off the books:
Francis
Raef
Randolph
Ruffin
Second, Trade exceptions.
The Blazers still have the Ruffin Trade exception for 1 year after his trade, they can use it up until next seasons trade deadline.
Third, Players to make decisions on.
Sergio’s option for next season was picked up by the team on 10/25/08 so he is on the books.
Frye’s contract expired this season, the 4.3 million shown on storytellers site is the qualifing offer the Blazers would have to make. If they choose they can extend him, or cut their rights to him, or offer him the qualifing 4.3 million, thus retaining his restricted FA status.
Blake and Travis, the blazers must decide before 6/30/09 if they want to keep them, if they are cut before then their contracts are unguaranteed.
Fourth, Rudy is signed through the 09-10 season, but his contract also has team options for the 10-11 and 11-12 season. So basically they don’t have to extend him until 2012-2013.
As for your FA list to look at, those are some good names, but since the amount of FA cash the Blazers have to spend was cut down by the Miles contract, I think KP will be looking to make a lopsided trade where the Blazers take back more salary than they give up. Say like trading the Pistons for Prince but only sending Outlaw. (Obviouisly that doesn’t work talent wise for the Pistons, I only used it to give an example of what could be done).

I know Sergio's
contract was picked up but Sergio has no business playing basketball on this team as far I’m concerned. He’s too small, can’t play defense, makes terrible decisions with the basketball, and has a suspect shot. Adios Sergio….the only system he’d ever play well in, is on Don Nelson or D’Antoni team where turnovers and bad decisions don’t really matter.

Sergio is 6'3" and 190 and he's too small?

No way Sergio weights 190...
Granted everything King said about him is wrong too.

Just curious
In my “goodbye section” I have raef, shavlick and ruffin, so what’s really a mistake there minus leaving out stevie franchise?

Francis was the only "forgotten" man
Just listed the others for context.

one more thing
This is the offseason where the Blazers must extend Roy, LMA, and Sergio, (if they want to) if they want to keep them off the RFA market. Otherwise they will have to extend them qualifing offers after next season and match any offer they get on the open market.
I am guess they will lock up both ROY and LMA, and let Sergio ride it out until next year, unless he is traded. If LMA or his agent get testy about wanting the Max, then he may not be extended this year either. As much as PA’s billions let this team make moves others can’t, I still don’t see KP signing LMA to a max deal, something around $50 million over 6 years maybe, which I think LMA should take in a heart beat.

This might be where the crappy economy helps us.

I think Boby Jackson would be a good 3rd string point guard in the event we go with Bayless as our 2nd string point guard
If we trade sergio and Bayless is our 2nd string option it would be nice to have a veteran 3rd PG in case our 1st or 2nd PG got hurt.
I say it is really important if Bayless is our second string guard because while I believe he will be one heck of a player, I don’t think he is ready to handle the first string duties.

like crawford
He is a Wolverin but his contract is HUGE 9.3 next year, 10 mill the next year and he shoots the ball a million times per game.

Is that chart...
just a straightup copy-paste from Storytellers site with a little reformatting?
