Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

I hope Oden remembers...

That the first time he played Andrew Bynum, he was thrown to the ground on some of the first few plays. Shortly after that, he re-injured his foot and Bynum played him more aggressively than I have ever seen anyone play Oden. Oden was hobbling around and Bynum was putting his entire body weight all over the guy. As if to say he did not care if Oden was injured-- he was going to push that injured foot to the limit.

I am not a mind reader, but I am sure the goal was to not preserve any health Greg had left. All of that work to get back after microfracture only to sniff a few minutes of a game and be gone once again.

I hope you remember that tomorrow Greg.

I hope the team remembers Ariza's hard foul on Rudy.

I hope the team remembers Odom's hard foul on Roy.

This team does not deserve any friendly thoughts or contact from the Blazers.

I hope we get up by 29

And don’t slack off in the 4th this time. The Lakers made the last game look closer than it should. No 10-19 point victory this time, I wanna go by 20+!

REC THIS POST!!!!

Every read on BlazersEdge needs to read this post and start thinking and feeling this mojo. Greg is gonna take care of business against the Lakers. The circumstances have flipped and now it is time for Mr. Bynum to be “welcomed back into the league”.

Portland has changed so much since those opening games of this season, and this home game against the Western Conference favorites is GREAT time to prove it once again.

You people gotta rec this post. Hey loyal_blazer great thread!

Thanks man

I pointed the incident out when it happened to open the season. The Ariza fould was a reminder and hopefully our guys are ready to ball out of their minds!!

"Both Anthony Carter and Jameer Nelson were downright jubilant in the Magic locker room postgame. Carter said to no one in particular, "Brandon Roy, that man is unstoppable, it's like he's playing NBA Live" and Nelson was cracking on his teammates for not being able to guard Brandon. The kinds of jokes you can make when you win."

Furthermore....

I hope Oden returns the favor and bangs up Bynum and his reconstructed knee. Normally I would advocate for such dirty play but it is the Lakers and they deserve some retribution. Bynum is going to quickly realize he isn’t in the safe confines of the the Staples Center. He will know a world of pain in the Garden.

No, you can't wish hurt on anyone.

Just hope he posterizes him a couple times. And that we blow them out again.

I agree....

I just hope Oden shows him no-mercy just as Bynum showed that night. I thought it was classless. Let the guy who just missed an entire season wo is now clearly hurt, hobbling around live for a minute!

If not and it’s that cut-throat, what goes around comes around.

The Lakers got alot of stuff coming around I’ll tell you that.

This is gong to be a physical game

I hope the Lakers beat Denver in a tough throwdown game tonight in about 6 OTs if possible so they’re tired though…

can you guess which one?

Thumb?

Why would we give Ariza a thumbs up? Simply. After Oden blocks him, Ariza should be on his back. The thumbs up will actually look like a thumbs down to him.

(Ignore that this logic doesn’t work.)

I hope we can shoot better then the 29%

in the first quarter that we have the last couple games.
I also hope we get into the heads of the lakers a little bit we are going to face them in the 2nd round.

I try to help with everything," Fernandez said. "If the coach says go rebound, I go rebound. I work for the team.

""If I'm playing this game to get media and attention, I shouldn't be here," Aldridge said. "I'm here to play basketball, and do what I can do to help this team win."

It seems we are better

When LMA and Roy assert themselves from the beginning.

When Roy goes hard in the 1st we almost always have a comfortable lead going into the half.

With LMA where he’s at now I dont know if they can stop them. But, if BRoy is asleep waiting for everyone else to suck before he turns up the pressure, we are always digging a whole.

im advocating a ray-allenesque type throw

on A laker…

not enough to really injure them, but enough to be like “stop drawing those weak blocking fouls, or i will get my moneys worth and throw you”

Like last night vs tony Parker, the refs fortunately werent calling some contact, but he was going for weak blocking fouls. if greg threw him like he did ray allen, he might get a little less of those little guys going RIGHT at him

I can not wait to see how the Rose Garden reacts to Ariza

It is going to be deafening. Oh yeah and Kobe should be careful around the basket too because I think we all remember Odom’s flagrant on Roy not too long ago. I don’t care if it’s Andrew “Playboy Mansion” Bynum or Sun Yue you will not be gliding to the basket uncontested

Man I hate those guys

recently i saw a certain alley oop from the 2000 playoffs. I go to school in california (not LA), nothing would make me more happy than to kick the chit out of those guys tomorrow. the garden is gonna be roudy, nopo. yellow and purple will be playing on the second of a back to back, the blazers are on a role. Would love to see oden just posterize all three of the bigs. looking for a batum dunk part 2. and some rudy revenge. we got nothing to loose, if we loose then that’s what it is, if we win we have to dominant victories late in the season over those guys. They know there’s a chance they face us in the second round, knock on wood. And Ariza might not even make it to the rose garden

Here's the thing about the Lakers

Alot of them see us as the little town folks who are so mad the Lakers got in their way.

That game 7 Laker comeback was total BS orchestrated by the NBA. I remember Steve Smith going airborn for a layup, he was knocked to the ground in the air— no foul called. Lakers take the bll up and score. Many other crazy things happened in that quarter, which was funny considering the Blazers had figured this team out, won 3 in a row on to the 4th win, 4th quarter blowout.

We don’t like the Lakers because they are a fake team with fake ass fans that have the officials on their side almost no matter who the opponent is.

I am sure Kings fans feel the same way or any other team who has been victimized by the blatant fake officiating in crucial series with this team(NBA revenue calling?).

Add on the injury to insult everything stated in this post and there you have it!

To me this year would be great to spoil any kind of Lakers run— this season would be great! The next few years I have higher aspirations!

I stopped watching for a year or 2 after that

as my belief in the essential fairness of the NBA was shot. This is why I hold an eternal grudge against Shaq and cannot understand the occasional crazy post wanting him here.

Seriously. Bedge needs to lean heavily on the TV execs to get our games out there. I honestly think no team is more fun to watch in the NBA than the Blazers with the way they roller coaster!

Please, for the love of all that is holy, please stop using the following: "Book it.", "FTW", "Epic" & "Fail".

...no seriously--stop.

play clips of all those incidents to the guys before the game.

And on the the Rose Garden end we should start a roaring “Beat LA!” chant for the opening minute of the game. That should get the adrenaline going : )

blazers have to realise

the lakers will probably double broy and force someone else to beat you. couple that with blakes inability to create a decent shot and joel/odens non existant range from beyond the key, the coaches will have to come up with some interesting strats.

i think someone like batum/oden/rudy can make a huge difference tonite, as i consider the blazers bench better than the lakers, and the lakers bench has as many holes defensively as our bench.

at home the blazers starters match up evenly with the lakers starters
