50 & 50: An Observation
I don't recall if it was MB or Rice that pointed out during tonight's broadcast that in the entire history of the franchise, only 9 previous Blazer teams have ever reached 50 wins in a season. So, I went and took a glance at the list, and something struck me: every single one of those 9 seasons had a player from the so called "50 Greatest Players in NBA History" list. Each one of those Blazer teams had either Bill Walton, Clyde Drexler or Scottie Pippen on it.
Hopefully, as fans, we're still a few seasons away from taking big winning records for granted like some other teams in the West seem to ;), but for now it's absolutely amazing to me to think that one of the youngest teams in league history just accomplished a goal that previously took some of the best players ever to play the game to reach. And we still have a chance at besting 2 or maybe 3 of those records in the next few games. Wow, just wow.
Remember how this was still supposed to be just a "learning season" for us? So, was that us learning about the league, or vice versa? Or, as Rex might say: RAWR!
The list:
Walton era:
1977-78: 58-24
Drexler era:
1987-88: 53-29
1989-90: 59-23
1990-91: 63-19
1991-92: 57-25
1992-93: 51-31
Pippen era:
1999-00: 59-23
2000-01: 50-32
2002-03: 50-32

Roy and Lma have been good for an extra 9 wins or more every year
Next year we shoot for 60 wins.

I can't wait to see our record 5 years from now.
Of all the things that can be expressed in the printed word – love, hate, fear, joy – true humor is the one that is the most difficult of all. Sarcasm, for example, is an art of delicate subtlety. Yet too many people wield it as a bulldozer – loud, smelly, ugly, and destructive – and think they are being funny.

I guess that means we'll have topped off.
How disappointing.

I wonder what happened in 1988-1989 and 2001-2002?
01-02 was probably the strike year. – Elgin

Welcome to the Roy era
I know that LMA is the workhorse of our future. But let’s face it. Brandon Roy is a rookie of the year and two time all-star. He’s the general. And in crunch time that ball is in his hands. He’s the best player to wear a Blazer uniform since Drexler. (Pippen may have been superior in his hey day, but I’m talking about with us.)
Most importantly, I think Roy will be a Blazer for life, or at least until both parties agree it makes since to move on, (see Drexler). He is NW born and raised. And with Seattle gone to OKC, it’s all about P-Town baby.
GO BLAZERS@@
Blazers Prophecy.
3-5 championships in next decade.
You heard it here first.
