This happened in my dream last night.
I got up out of my bed because I was thirsty. I opened the fridge and found some Odwalla OJ, which I found strange since it’s too expensive for me to consider buying. Nevertheless, I drank it all. It was delicious. I went to go walk upstairs and saw the TV was on. Only, it wasn’t actually on, there were just words on the screen. It was almost like a Powerpoint presentation. After I read what was on the screen, it automatically changed to show more. My mind was the remote. Here, more or less, is the Dream-TV transcript:
“The Blazers need homecourt to win in the playoffs. To get home court, they HAVE to get 53 wins. Currently, Portland has 48 wins. They have 6 games left. They need to go 5-1 in that span, meaning wins in 2 out of 3 games vs. the Spurs, Lakers and Nuggets.
Assuming they win @San Antonio on Wednesday, they will own the tie-breaker against them 3-1. This means they can end up with 53 wins too and Portland would still be above them in the standings. After losing, The spurs would only have to lose 1 more to end at 53, which is highly possible considering they play vs. Jazz, Hornets and @ Golden State finishing out the year; without Manu.
Houston is a more complicated scenario since they own the tie-break. Portland must finish with more wins. The Rockets need to end up with 52 wins, meaning they go 3-2 to close out their season. They play home against Orlando and New Orleans but also @Sactown, @ GState, @Dallas. They will lose two of those games.
By the end of the season, Portland will have jumped Houston and SA to get the 3 seed. Denver stays at 2. The Blazers end up playing New Orleans in the playoffs. With home court, they out-hustle a weak N.O. bench and wear out the starters in 7.
In the 2nd round, the Blazers get a tired team (Dallas, Utah, Denver) and it doesn’t matter which. The 2-7 match-up will be a good, physical one. The Blazers are young and will be ready for the winner. They will win impressively in the 2nd round. The Dynasty begins.”
When I woke up this morning, I remembered just about everything. Whether I made this up in my mind due to too much Blazer-infused thought or it is a sign from God, I don’t know. I’m hoping the latter. Getting to the WCF would be more dope than crack. It would give us three rounds of playoff experience and a ton of confidence going into next year. Damn, I hope this prophecy is right.
Peace to the Nation stay rugged and rough.
*If you know anything about dream-reading, let me know.
**One interesting note about the dream: I vividly remember the writing on the TV using actual numbers instead of words (2 instead of two). I learned awhile back not to do this unless that number is something like a record or opening a sentence. Hmm…
