Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

LmA +JPryz = HCA

For Home Court Advantage.

This may or may not have been covered before here on BE.

Having Joel back in the first unit is a hidden reason for LMA's recent success. I remember thinking earlier in the season that LaMarcus was having a difficult time adjusting to the Oden presence. Joel is very solid and systematic in how he plays the game. And LaMarcus knows him better because he has had more time with him.

This is another example of how the Fates have favored the Blazers this year. The bone chip put Greg in the second unit where he is more comfortable. And put Joel back in the first unit thus making LaMarcus more comfortable!

Dig those Fates this year!

Oh, OK. I guess as long as other people...

are doing it wrong then it’s OK, lol.

What’s next? World leaders walking around saying nucular instead of nuclear? (D’oh) Buying a house from a realitor? How about we “effort” to improve ourselves just a little so we can maintain a common thread of sensibility in our language. “Irregardless,” out of respect for our starting center, can’t we make a small effort to spell his name right even though some people think it looks better with the letters transposed?

by blazed on Apr 4, 2009 1:27 PM PDT up reply actions

Transposed?

Isn’t that what you are arguing for? Perhaps you should consult a dictionary before attempting such big words. And as for your swing and miss at satire, your argument would have made sense if any of your grammatically challenged examples had been nicknames or truncations. That is the key point here, Blazed. Pryz is his nickname. Is there any grammatical rule or stipulation that states a nickname must mimic some part of the original name? But that’s alright, Blazed, your sanctimony is always welcome here. ;)

Sorry, been gone a while...

but, not sure what you’re trying to say. Here is what Merriam-Webster has to say:

Transpose: to change the relative place or normal order of : alter the sequence of .

Thought I got that part right. Otherwise, just sayin’.

I really hope Nate keeps starting Pryzzy and bringing Oden off the bench. That is REALLY working...

Oden still racks fast fouls, but if he’s not the starter and is slated for a 20 minute run, that becomes a minor inconvenience instead of a strategy-shifting problem.

And the poor other teams have the choice of either not starting their best center against the Blazers’ starters, or of having their tired starting center go against Oden, or of running their backup center against Oden. LOSE-LOSE-LOSE, it would seem…

The pressure is off Oden and he is playing freer and better. The weight of the world is off his shoulders….

REALLY GOOD SITUATION.

It was quite enjoyable watching Robin Lopez try to guard Oden

Dribble. Dribble. Dribble. Dunk. It was very Shaqess in the way he simply overpowered him with brute strength.

I just re-watched that game a couple night ago.

While it may be a short term benefit to start Joel

I think Nate is right in challenging both LMA and Oden’s comfort zones by starting Oden, because that is the long term plan anyway, and both of them should be allowed to develop that chemistry early.

No

You have the entire regular season for that next year. We wanna be a threat in the playoffs this year. There is only one team in the West with a backup Center who can even begin to hassle Oden, and we wouldn’t see the Nuggets until WCF anyway if the seeding works out how it probably will.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
