Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Stevepinkranger

Steve Blake played like the Pink Ranger of point guards this series. If ever there was a moment when the weakness at point was exposed, it was this series.

I blame 'Slow it down Nate Ball' more than I blame Blake.

We played right into Houston’s D all series long by walking it up the court and facing a fixed D.

"The brownies,'' Fernandez said after the game. "The brownies are good for me to make three-points.''

that's also "Slow it down Roy ball"

Nate institute the 4 second rule… Roy just doesn’t like to run. They were talking about it on the 5th quarter tonight.

4 shots, 2 points in 40 minutes

I can handle the turnovers, but Blake refused to shoot. The starting PG can’t be afraid of shooting the ball.

meh...

you might as well include the 4 other Rangers and the special auxilary White Ranger, too… Rudy, Travis, Oden, Batum, and Sergio/Channing (special).

Our two main guys did their job and did it well, especially considering that they both were matched up against players who’ve shown a great ability to shut them down before.

Our much ballyhooed, vuanted depth is what didn’t show up in this series. Our bench and role players couldn’t provide the necessary kick game after game. The games we won? Our bench and role players brought it.

I don’t find it particularly fair for people to be pointing out single players at this point. Houston was feared for the matchup concerns they give us. What I expected was for them to shut down Roy and LMA and make everyone else beat us. I didn’t expect them to let Roy and LMA get theirs and to shut everyone else down. No Blazers except Roy and LMA were a credible scoring threat in every game.

Well done by Houston. Any other of a handful of teams we likely could’ve gotten by… maybe even Houston if they had home court advantage.

But I like to be here. Oh, I like it a lot! Said the Cat in the Hat. To the fish in the pot.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
