Von Wafer to miss Game 6
Portland sports-talk radio just reported that (Baron) Von Wafer is battling back problems and will not play tonight. I say huzzah! That guy has been a royal pain in the posterior off the bench for Houston. Anything that saps the scoring punch of their second unit and makes guys like Brooks and Artest think they have to score more to make up the difference is fine by me.

Sucks that he's hurting
but this is a great example of schadenfreude. This works for me.
Can I get a headband? One for my peeps, one for the fans in the really cheap seats, one for my momma, one for the mayor, and if you wanna get down with the players, YOU GOTTA GET A HEADBAND!

If this is true
Thats a pretty big loss for Houston considering the problems they have scoring. However I’ll believe when I see it printed, talk radio is not to be trusted.

This means more Lowry?
That’s probably good news. Unless Wafer was planning on getting blocked by the backboard again.

all injuries to any player on any team are lamentable
For a player to not play because of injury is an affront to the cosmic order. Aesthetically very displeasing. I wish Mr. Wafer (What an unusual name!) the very best and I wish him a speedy recovery after the Blazers win the series.
The only good things happening on Wall Street are the dogs that piss on it daily.

I think this means more Aaron Brooks shots.
Lets just hope he shoots like he did in Game 5.

Did anyone else just go---
Brent Barry always kills us… ???? I’m going to cry if Barry hits another dagger 3.

One less bad haircut on the court!
Seriously, the Rockets have some horrible hair cuts or lack there of.
Von Wafer with his dumb looking mohawk. Come on Von, your head looks like it should be used to buff my Cole Haans.
Yao Ming. He has that jarhead ‘high and tight’ like he just enlisted in the Chinese military. Come on Yao, ask to be released from your service. You’re making MILLIONS in the NBA.
Luis Scola. I would rather see this hair on Yao (photoshop please) Someone take Scola to 7 bucks a whack!

Even though I've actually been to 7 Bucks a Whack and know what it is.....
……the name always sounds just a bit too much like a discount dominatrix place.
Yes, I know I have a dirty mind.

Dirty mind or not
I’m sorry you too have been victum to ‘7 bucks a whack’.
The lady (if you can call her that) was actually smoking when she cut my hair. Sure this was pre smoking ban but come on! Do I really want to die from second hand smoke because I was too cheap to pay $8 for a haircut? No thanks. Plus she was just leathery and I’m pretty sure she paired a wig with tattoo’d make-up.
Back to Wafer…he’s ugly and has been killing us in this series. Nuff said. Happy back resting!

The sign that said "Rince, Lather, Repeat" got one of the biggest ovations of the night during game 5
Probably only behind the cheers that erupted every time Yao got a foul called on him.

Did the sign actually misspell the word "Rinse"?
Goldman Sachs is the # 1 donor to $enator Evan Bayh, who serves on the $enate committee that overseas the Treasury Department. In a totally unrelated coincidence, after the Government enacted a bailout program that funnels huge amounts of taxpayer $$$$ to Goldman Sachs, this is what happened: Goldman Sachs earned $1.81 billion, or $3.39 a share, for the quarter ended March 31, 2009. Goldman Sachs shares, which have surged more than 70% during the past month, continued rising late Monday, gaining about 4.7% for the day.
Nobody even tries to hide this any longer. The only way they could make it more blatant is if they hung a huge Goldman Sachs logo on the Capitol dome and then branded it onto the foreheads of leading members of Congress and executive branch officials.

This increases the Blazers chance of a win only if...
they don’t leave BB open for 3’s in the corner. I would rather have Wafer shooting 3’s than Brent.

This could be big
Wafer’s has put up over 10 points per game in this series. 10 points out of ~85 is not a small chunk. Those points will have to be made up somewhere.
Additionally, they’ve mostly been relatively easy points on the drive. We have not been able to keep him from getting to the rim.
How did you guys win that?
"We scored enough points. We scored 107, they scored 105.

you are right
Wafer has been waltzing through the paint with alarming ease. We just can’t win if we let opponents waltz through the lane. And we can’t win if the waltzing part gets replaced with raining threes by Brent Barry. No raining threes and no waltzing in the lane. This is the least we should expect from our Blazer defense tonight.

they used Wafer well (Wafer Well sounds like a diet cracker)
attacking Rudy and the defense in general when we overcommit to Yao and then rotate to Scola/Hayes. His aggressiveness has hurt us. Battier does not do that, so this is good news for our chances

Completely agree. This is really big
Wafer came in and gave the Rockets instant offense in every game, especially in Houston. I don’t see who really steps in. Maybe Brent Barry?

Any body else think this is a trap?
Play hard. Don’t get too encouraged that he “might” be out. Front Barry and make his looks bad.

Would they play Barry or increase starters minutes
Berry spreads the floor, but they need someone that can help penetrate. It’s not a great option for them. Maybe they can go in another direction. Battier and Artest may have to play a little more. Would they be willing to put Berry on Rudy or Roy. He’d lose Rudy at some point and he’d get some open shots. Let’s just dream that he gets one on one with Roy. That would be FANTASTIC!!!!
