Phoenix won tonight, so despite our blowout of the Blunder, we didn't clinch a playoff spot. But the magic number is now 1.
The bigger news is that Houston, Utah, Dallas, and New Orleans all lost tonight, so the Blazers gain a game on all four teams. The Blazers are now in fourth place in the West, 1 game behind the Spurs and 1 1/2 behind Denver. Houston is 5th, 1/2 game behind us, the Hornes are a game back, Utah is now 2 1/2 back, and Dallas is 3 1/2 back.
Phoenix may make the race for #8 interesting. They gain a game on the Mavs, though are still 3 back. But I'd kinda like to see Cuban in the lottery, and I'd like to see the Lakers have to take on Shaq in the first round. That little lovefest would be entertaining to watch.
With Houston 1/2 back of us, Sundays game in Houston becomes even more important.
Only one game tomorrow (Saturday) involving a western conference playoff team--the Nuggets continue their parade of cream puffs as they host the lowly Clippers. (Go Z-Bo!) But on Sunday, lots of important games besides Portland @Houston. The Spurs visit Cleveland (who just got THRASHED tonight in Orlando--after losing to the freaking Wizards, ouch!), Phoenix goes to Dallas (a must win game for them, or they are almost officially toast), the Nuggets travel to Minnesota, the Jazz travel to Nawlins... and the Lakers host the Clips in the Battle of Los Angeles.
I'd love to catch Denver and win the NW, but I don't think it will happen (too many creampuffs remaining for the Nuggets). But HCA in the first round, I'll take it!
