Rudy's name
is a little more complicated, it’s not his middle per se. Some Spaniards prefer to use it and some do not.
Farres is his mothers surname and Fernandez is his fathers surname.
Kinda a way to honor both mom and pop. You will see it like Rodolfo Fernandez de Farres.

In fact, it's everyone in Spain
Here your full name consists of First Name, optional middle name(s) and two surnames, traditinally the first one is your father’s and the second one your mother’s, but equalty laws now allow the parents to choose the surnames order.
In my case:
Daniel – First name
Oscar – Middle
González – My dad’s
Alberola – My mom’s

I suppose legally and culturally that is the case
but it is just here in the US, Spanish personas solo es dos nombres.
Like I have no idea what Sergios mothers name is, nor Calderon or the Gasol bros. I was a fan of Roberto Heras before he was caught, and sometimes he was Roberto Heras and sometimes it was Roberto Heras de Hernandez.
Thank you for clarifying that cause here mainly Spaniards are represented in the US form
(First Name) (Fathers surname)
