Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

"I'm not concerned. We'll play better at home," Rockets' forward Shane Battier said after Game 5. "We're excited. It's not a pressure situation."

Mcgrady's famous words before losing Game 7 at home to the Jazz

“I think both teams are really comfortable at home,” McGrady said. “This is a hostile enviroment (in Utah). It’s tough to really win in this building. So much energy that they feed off from their crowd. It’s probably the loudest building that I’ve ever been in a playoff series. As for us, I think we are comfortable as well on our court. It seems like our guys shoot the ball real well back home.”

Life is not by chance. Basketball is life.

Battier has played very well this series, so of course there's not much pressure on him.

But what about on Yao? He can say what he wants, but there’s no way he’s not feeling a few butterflies in his stomach over this one.

And the entire team probably won’t be feeling a ton of pressure before the game because they’ve played so well against Portland at home. I can understand that.

But what happens if they don’t jump out to a lead? What happens if Portland gets a lead in the 4th quarter? The pressure will definitely be there if Portland plays the way they need to.

Yes! Yes! In the face!

Give the guy a break.

Clearly he’s under a lot of pressure right now and is losing it.

"The brownies,'' Fernandez said after the game. "The brownies are good for me to make three-points.''

Shane is right, they will pay better at home.

The Blazers need to play better as well, if they are going to beat them.

This is either going to be one hell of a game, or a Houston blow-out.

I heart taxes.

Lost the last two games by a measly

4 points combined. Game four we had four turnovers in the fourth quarter. A little more concentration and we have game 6. Honestly, I think that Houston is just getting worn down as this series goes on espeically without Mutombo.

Which is unusual

Usually we beat teams by a bigger margin at the Toyota Center.

We blew the Jazz out in game 5 last year and went back to Salt Lake City and were promptly blown out by Utah to end the series. Don’t think Houston’s going to play the kind of crappy game they played in game 5. Rockets will go all out in this one. My prediction is Houston wins by 5 if Portland brings the heat, if not, Rockets win by 10-15

My Predicition is:

no one knows what’s gonna happen.

As a Blazer Fan, I am both excited about the possibility of bringing the series to a game 7 with Home Court, but I am also scared that the Blazer season will end in Houston.

Houston fans must be excited at the prospect of winning the series at home, but I’m sure any reasonable Houston fan looks at the fact that Portland has played better and better in every game and starts to realize that the pressure is on to win game 6:
HOME
 Game 1, big loss
 Game 2, small win
AWAY
 Game 3, almost came back
Game 4, came back but made some mistakes
HOME
 Game 5, decisive win
AWAY
Game 6, Next step in the series, logically: Came back and held on to win

by anim8r on Apr 29, 2009 7:17 PM PDT up reply actions

And game 7 big win, logically

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
