Clear out play
The clear out play bothered me even more than giving up all those offensive rebounds-3 pointers.
The play was initiated by a pick and pop between Roy and Outlaw. Roy and Outlaw were being guarded by Artest and Battier, respectively. The pick and pop forced Artest and Battier to switch, leaving Battier on Roy. Battier funneled Roy right into Hayes. Game over.
Why would you run a pick and pop play with Battier's man? If you're going to run a pick and pop/roll, the screener should be the player being guarded by the weakest defender, which is never Battier. Dumb play - you never invite the best defender to switch onto your best offensive player.

Completely agree
However, what would your choice have been there? I think the idea was to have Artest try and stick with Roy for a second to free up Outlaw. Having Outlaw out there with Aldridge and the defender staying low keeps the numbers better on the perimeter more than having Aldridge out there, where all 5 are at the 3 point line. To me, it was a spacing issue where this worked out best, I just don’t see why that would be the plan. They also may have switched defenders right after the players took the court and not adjusted in time.
Use different screener
What would I do differently? Use a different screener. If I’m being guarded by Battier, I rotate to the opposite side of court from the screen and roll. I don’t set the screen. I don’t bring Battier to the play. If Outlaw and the other players can’t figure that out on the fly, then we have a problem.
Do you realize that your comment is almost the size of your fanpost?

Here's an idea
Quit relying on Outlaw for every play late in the game? Yeah, he’s hit some game winners, but why does Nate think he should be the option for everything?
Pick and Roll with Trout one play
Trout for the 30 footer on the inbound the next play
Oookay…
