Does anyone think
I'm just curious does anyone think it's a good idea to continue to show inordinate faith in Outlaw based largely on performances that occurred over a year ago? I mean really come on. This one is on Nate and Outlaw again and if I see Outlaw out there for the game winner again I will just absolutely flip out. So sick of the Nate love affair with outlaw it's Jarret Jack all over again!
AUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH!!!

not at all
Ric Bucher had a stat a couple of weeks ago on the radio, and said that Outlaw was 6-7 when attempting a game-tying or game winning shot in the last 5 seconds of regulation. Rudy’s been hitting better through the first three games, but Travis had a very solid game tonight, and I was ok with him getting the shot.
"Smile! You're on a poster!!" - Mike Rice
Really?
Even after Rudy’s white hot game three? Even after Rudy’s ice water in the veins follow up three after the horrid Outlaw attempt with tons of time on the clock?

Rudy is amazing to have survived not only the Ariza flagrant but also several attempts by snipers to end his life (look for it at second 30 and again later. Credit to Norkstroll for this incredible documetary footage!):

P.S.
Stats and the game of basketball are not one and the same. one is a measure of the other. If basketball was all stats then NBA Live would replace the real thing as it’s a MUCH more accurate stat’s based game.

how many game-winning shots has Outlaw hit over the years?
A lot. Outlaw isn’t our best guy, but he can create a reasonable shot simply by having the ball, by virtue of elevating extremely high on his J’s and having long arms to boot. Yes, he made a mistake and rushed the shot;
the same could be said for Blake’s TO after a steal, Joel’s throwaway after an offensive reb, everyone’s inability to defensive rebound down the stretch, B-Roy’s 3 (or 4?) turnovers in the last 6 minutes.
M, period. Fresh, comma.
Regular season yes.
This is the freaking playoffs man. So far Outlaw hasn’t hit one game winner in the playoffs, he has not been clutch. This was his first game that he played even halfway decent but was not playing well towards the end. I’m not sure he should have taken that shot with the defender in his face — a fade away three. Come on…
wait, who else has hit a game winner in the playoffs for Portland?
it's not likely at all that we will win, but I've followed this team all season and I'm not giving up an inch until the Rockets pry every living breath out of my soul

re: white hot
true hoop just had in interesting read about ‘hot shooting,’ saying that it’s pretty much a perception and doesn’t actually exist.
That being said, Rudy is a better 3pt shooter, so get him the ball.
Yellow Mamba FTW!
Roy shpould be playing pg with rudy at sg for at least 30 mins a game
TYhat was th elineup that put us back in it in 2 minutes…then he went away from it. blake at sg does nothing for us.
"Both Anthony Carter and Jameer Nelson were downright jubilant in the Magic locker room postgame. Carter said to no one in particular, "Brandon Roy, that man is unstoppable, it's like he's playing NBA Live" and Nelson was cracking on his teammates for not being able to guard Brandon. The kinds of jokes you can make when you win."
Yes I noticed that too.
It was the lineup that got us back in the last game also. Its the only lineup houston cant defend well.
sit outlaw for good LOL

I'm flagging every fanpost that brings nothing but venting as spam
I fear for the day Paul Allen is no longer the owner of the Blazers.
He needs to reproduce soon so we have an heir in succession.
I posted this
before the vent thread. I just didn’t title it as such…

I'm with you
It’s like a race to point fingers after a loss and bragging about how they’ve hated a Blazer longer than others. David Duke would be proud.
"The brownies,'' Fernandez said after the game. "The brownies are good for me to make three-points.''
David Duke?
That is without question the worst Ad Hominem attack I’ve EVER seen on BE! You compared me to a KKK member and avowed racist? Give me a flipping break!

going with outlaw was not a problem
rushing the shot was the problem.
it’s the exact mistake Steve Blake made in game 3.
In fact, Blake has had a few key errors late in these playoff games. As a whole our team does not look mentally prepared to handle playoff basketball. They are under pressure and are making mistakes rather than buckling down. It was clear in game 1 that Houston was more mentally ready for this series.
M, period. Fresh, comma.
So right they made tons of mistakes at the end of this game with the turnovers and the shot selection.
They are not ready yet to progress in the playoffs. I hate to admit it but its true. Beat me up for that if needed.
going with Outlaw WAS the problem
Travis has had many game winners but in the playoffs he has looked scared out of his mind…This state of mind is the reason that Travis was definitely the wrong play/option.
I was thinking that too
but with regular season heroics and crazy talent i was starting to think they could skip that whole experience step and progress this year(2nd round)
LOL at 85% "Yes"
If he hits that shot and this same question is asked it’s 85% “No.”
Hindsight is 85/14
Trouts 2nd half numbers
1-6 from the floor, 1 turnover.
But, and I swear this is true cause i just watched the 2nd half again, Trout had 3, count em, 3 passes. Not assists. Passes. Like, times he caught the ball and rather than shooting it, he passed it to a teammate.

"Does anyone think"
I thought this was going to be some kind of philosophical discussion, so disappointed

Honestly you're all overexaggerating this alittle
rudy was no where near the ball… roy was heavily guarded and travis was the only one open …he probably should have dribbled a bit but we ended up getting another shot at it …
